This beer appears, surprise, a clear, dark brassy amber hue, with one finger of very thin, weakly foamy off-white head, which leaves some rather sparse streaked lace around the mason jar glass as it quickly recedes.
It smells of raspberry jello powder, pre-mixed, and a sweet, lightly bready, diluted caramel maltiness, with very subtle, or maybe just plain weak, leafy, earthy hops. The taste is thin raspberry pie, the sugary, creamy fruitiness meshing as one would expect with the flaky, sweet grainy malt, a bit of understated, non-pie-like hops tagging along for the ride.
The bubbles are moderate in intensity, and pleasant enough in their job fulfillment, the body on the lee side of medium weight, and too astringent to dub all that smooth. It finishes on the sweet side, the raspberry puree still holding strong, morphing into a more generic black fruit essence, as the tame-ass malt holds steady.
Not the worst Raspberry ale I've come across - but not all that near the best, either. So, middling, I suppose, and ok if you find yourself stuck here for an evening of, well, you know.
