Bottle consumed 12/18.

Nice pop when opened. Large white head. Orange hued golden color.

Straw, hat, earthy funk. Lemon. Dry, bubbly, carbonated, and champagne like. Very typical boon flavors. Some mineral notes. A stronger gueuze. Very fun to try.

A huge thanks to Mike for this one. 750ml corked and caged bottle into a Cantillon tulip. Shared with schen9303.

Beer really holds its lace and legs. Impressive! Nose is lemon zest, wet wood, peat, horseblanket, cobwebs and a peppercorn tickle. Beer opens with a light cheesiness. Funky but not overly so. Great balance. Hints of lemon, hay, wet wood, oak, coriander spice and a very mellow bitterness. Zesty with horseblanket and barnyard. Very tasty. Dry, woody finish. Light bodied with moderate to ample carbonation. Foamy in the mouth and bone dry going down. Super drinkable.

A beer that I've heard nearly nothing about but this is very very good. Certainly worth seeking out and I think it'll only get better with age.

Wow!! I vaguely remember reading about this one and wrote it off as something I'd never try. Trust the bros I knows to just casually whip out things like this. I wish I could remember specifics. Anyways, thanks Kevin. Killin' it like always.

750ml bottle poured into a Lambikstoemper tasting glass. Enjoyed on 3.7.15, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a copper orange color, gold hues, lightly hazy with a big, fluffy white head, very nice retention, yet little lace. The aroma has a lot of richer grain, mild funk, sweetness, citrus, fruity and earthy yeast, oak, perhaps candi sugar, a touch floral but almost a little of lemon pledge. The flavors are nice, caramel malt, funk, a little vinegar, chewy oak, light citrus, fruity yeast and candi sugar. Definitely on the sweeter side, but there is a really nice funkiness going on to help balance. The mouthfeel is nice, coating, rich, bigger body but with a lively and zippy texture and a very smooth and creamy finish.

Verdict: A nice gueuze from Boon and the Lambikstoempers, arguably one of the better gueuzes that I've had from Boon. It's a bit richer and heavier and certainly on the sweeter side, but it's very crisp and clean, refreshing and easy to drink.

Review for 2013-bottled Boon Cuvee Lambikstoemper. This is a special blend of Boon gueuze for the Lambikstoemper club in Belgium (gueuze fan club basically). 750ml bottle poured into traditional gueuze tumbler glass. This is 7% ABV according to the bottle.

Color: Pours a fiery orange with a 2-finger off-white head.

Aroma: Bursting with funky smells! Strong smell of an old damp basement. Light bleu cheese funk. Touch of earthiness and oak. I get mushrooms. So many wonderful things going on here. One of the best gueuze aromas.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Very lightly carbed despite what I initially perceived. It is very close to being flat. A moderate, yet soft burst of that funky aroma comes out in the taste. Disappears very quickly. It's very delicate and soft on the palate unlike any other gueuze I've ever tasted. Tastes like someone bottled up some funky basement mold. That's the best way I can describe it. The finish is quick, but leaves me wanting more and more.

Overall: This is something special. The flavors are so refined, soft, and yet unlike any gueuze/lambic I've ever had before.
