Bottles on sale at the Micro Bar in Reykjavik. The bottle informs me this is best before some date in the year 2035.

Pours effervescent, smells tart, tastes dry. Nothing here will blow your socks off, considering the recent proliferation of good-to-great Geuzes, but its position as a stylistic standard bearer should be respected.

Pours hazy gold with a champagne like white head that quickly dissipates. Slightly rotten apple nose with lemon and a little funk. Bitter acid palate with lemon, apples and wine notes.

2011-2012 vintage. Cork dated 10492. Served in a geuze tumbler 2/1/15. This cork popped out with a vengeance...

A- Clear golden-copper body. Frothy, effervescent 3 finger white head that takes a while to settle down. Should have poured this one gently, but it is certainly a well carbonated beer. Nice retention, thick collar, not much lacing.

S- Peppercorns, floral notes, a moderate funk- not as much wet hay or mustiness as Cantillon, but the former 2 notes come across reasonably well here. Crisp wheat sharpness. Not superbly complex, but sets the table reasonably well.

F- Mild-moderate level of funky hay and must, combined with a mild lemon zest up front. Plenty of floral notes, some peppers. Drinks a lot like a saison. Not particularly acidic, although there is a reasonable amount which is nowhere near overwhelmingly strong. Nice dry lemon zest on the finish.

M- Medium bodied, nice effervescence, good carbonation. Quite drinkable. Not too sour, not too funky, seems to be just right if you're in the mood for some lambic.

O- Good geuze; I would put this slightly above average especially when you factor in the availability and affordability in addition to the palatal qualities this beer brings.
