This was poured into a pokal. The appearance was a dark hazy burnt red color with a slim finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Moderate amount of lacing appeared around the glass in a messy sort of way. The smell started off with the sweet cherry side and then opened up into a lighter tart to almost sour underscore of cherries. The taste was mainly the sweet cherries flowing into a delicate sour to tartness of the cherry side. Guess the aftertaste - yup - cherries. Finish is somewhat sticky sweet through the cherries. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a great sessionability about it. Carbonation runs light - nice sweet to semi-sour/tart edge hitting my tongue underneath. Overall, damn nice lambic, I know I’d have again.

Bottle from 2013. Pours a dark somewhat opaque ruby red color with pink colored head. Cherries, lots of cherries, almost like a piece of cherry pie on the nose with just a touch of funk; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes just like a piece of cherry pie.

750ml bottle from 2013. Opaque, dark red with a lacing of bubbles. Sour cherry smell. Medium feel, only lightly carbonated. Sweet cherry flavors. I don't really detect anything else. Great if you like cherries, but there are other krieks with more lambic character.

From the 750 ml bottle in a snifter. This rather nice little lambic pours
a deep dark ruby with a medium dark redish pink tinged head of foam that subsides
to a thick ring, subtle thin pool, and light spotty lacing. Nose of lightly tart cherries....
for being a single dimension it is rather nice. Flavors follow the lead of the nose with
lightly tart cherries and mild carbonation that is lightly effervescent finishing lightly tart
and dry.

Overall, for being only a single dimension it is nice.

I was very underwhelmed by this particular product . I know that lambics are not known for their heads but this thing was as flat as cherry juice. The aroma was nice and sweet, full of cherry, but with no hints of tartness or any other funkiness. The flavor was very uncomplicated: Relatively sweet and with only the faintest hints of sourness/acidity. No funkiness. Virtually no carbonation at all too. Finally, even though I know that this is a barely 4% ABV product, I personally have such a low alcohol tolerance that I can usually "feel" the alcohol even at such low ABVs. This was not the case with this product however. It didn't only taste like cherry juice, but it also gave me the same buzz that cherry juice gives me. That is to say, none whatsoever.

12 Oz pour into Wine glass

A: Deep ruby red great clarity. Frothy light red head.

S: like cherry syrup, almost a little strawberry.

T: Very sweet not sour at all tons of sweet cherry flavor. Maybe a touch acidic on the end.

M: light to slightly fuller nice cherry cling on the tongue.

O: this is a pretty easy drinking beer I didn't think it would be this sweet. This beer drinks a lot more like a fruited beer than a limbic.

37cl bottle. Dark ruby pour with a light purple head. Notes of cherries dominate the palate, with additional sherry, caramel and honey and very (and I do mean VERY) subtle lambic notes.

Very red no head at all like fruit punch. Strong cherry aroma. More like a malt beverage than a beer. Slight acid at the start.

One of Michael Jackson's 500 Beers of Distinction.

Pours fairly dark for a kriek, about the color of a good fruit leather. It's red-ish, but were I not looking for cherries I'd probably call it brown. The effervesence is firm and plainly visible.

Smells mostly sour, with some distinct cherry nodes becoming present upon further inspection. The balance is second tier compared to, say, Rodenbach, but second tier is still a silver medal.

And things are smoothed out considerably in the flavor, where the cherries take center stage. Actually, I'm knocking the aroma down a peg because it's not up to snuff with the flavor.

Starts lightly tart with thick, rich fruit. Big cherries. It gets a bit lambic malty in the middle, but smooth cherries are the main attraction, and it ends on a thoroughly smooth malt and yeast finish. There's a bit of baby aspirin in the finish, too, which many might not like but I consider charming.

A good kriek, overall. Not lifechanging, but certainly worth the price of admission.
