On Tap

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA

Clear pink and ruby with lots of highly-active carbonation running up through the body of the beer. Small light pink head that doesn't leave much stick down the glass.

The aroma is a simple one, and pleasant enough: raspberry and simple syrup. Very sweet.

The flavor too is quite simple, without a lot of depth. There's not a lot of sour character or funk at all. This is sweet, syrupy, and filled with raspberry flavor. It tastes like carbonated raspberry juice.

Thin bodied with high carbonation.

A simple, sweet, raspberry beer, though too sweet and not complex enough to drink in much quantity.

A- Red translucent body, tiny white head that dissipates almost instantly

S- A bit of raspberry fruity malt maybe? Not much carbonation, little to no nose

T- Very dry! A hint of fruity malt up front and the finish is dry and makes you salivate giving a copper flavor in the finish as well

M- Light body, crisp and dry

D- If I am in the mood for a very dry framboise, this is it!

Draft to 9oz Strange

@Beachwood's BBQ Long Beach, Ode to Lambic

App- I am rating a bit higher here because the color on this beer is just so damn pretty. It's like when we were kids and had Kool-aid. That color just no bubbles or cling or anything.

Smell- A bit of a malty blast with some very deep cherry and a bit artificial. Not overly wowing here.

Taste- A bit of a earthy note intermixed with the cherries but again too sweet. Went a bit thick with this one.

Mouth- A lighter medium body with a full medium thick carbonation level. A bit syrupy.

Drink- Eh, Ill pass if I see this one again on tap. Wonder if any different from a bottle.

Compared to the Lindemans this frambroise is a little thin in body and flavor. A really nice red color with a sweet reapberry nose. I thought that the taste was a little thin not much fruit more of a champagney taste to it. Worth a try but only once.

Pours an amber-reddish color. Initial fizzy carbonation leads to no head whatsoever. Carbonation is minimal to none.

Smells funky. Sour raspberries are mixed by with what smells like a vinegar mixed raspberries. Not sold on it just yet.

Tart, unsweetened raspberries are the highlight mixed with vinegar. Funk is kind in the background, overpowered by the vinegar. Not too sold on the flavor either.

Hm the aftertaste is really the best part. The vinegar flavors go away, leaving flashes of tart raspberry seeds and funk. Leaves a slightly dry feeling, probably from the sour and vinegar.

Not overly impressed, not the worst by any means.

Pours a pale portwine colour, dark red-pink. Head is white, small bubbles but fades quickly. Lace is decent, but overall a bit underwhelming as a beer.

Smells very fruity and sweet, with raspberry and apple juice characters. Odd funky note as well, with a corporeal, slightly salty aroma. Tart as well, vinegary in its fruity character. Not quite fresh, but certainly intriguing and nicely fruity.

Taste doesn't quite scream of fruity character. There's apple and raspberry notes throughout here and there, but a bit thin on the front and a bit watery. Slight tartness late-mid and some funky, organic notes late that get barnyard bitterness on the finish. Pretty decent, but it could really bring the fruit out to be more of a hero, with more acidity as well. Sort of weak fruit with late funk, neither of which is as impressive as it should be.

Decent body, but nothing much to it as far as texture goes; not too thin but a bit bland.

Drinkable and balanced, but there's something unimpressive and weak about it all.

old skool green bottle eith the cork and wire. Fizzy, no head/lacing. Cloudy appearance, almost has the look of venous blood. Hopefully it tastes better.

Nice rich aroma of raspberries and malt.
Very tart and very dry initially. Some richer flavor becomes more apparent in the mid/after taste...the malt more certainly.

not as watery as i thought, actually quite decent..the excessive tartness makes this a one off for me though.

Reviewed 2/14/08. Bottle. Poured reddish brown, with some dark black yeast. The best thing about this beer was its aroma--very sweet with raspberry, reminded me of a Lindemann's Framboise. The flavor was less good, sort of watery and raspberry. Slight tartness. Overall, an ok lambic but certainly not my favorite.
