Pours a light purple body with one finger pink head that left little lace. Aroma is tart, acidic, little bit sour but this isn't a sour ale aroma and there are cherries and hints of oak in the aroma. Smooth, easy to drink thanks to oakiness, the tart cherries are not too sharp but flavorful enough to give off acidic crispness and a little bit of sweetness. Good balance and great drinker.

375ml bottle, 2008 harvest date. Poured into a geuze tumbler 12/1/2014.

A- Dark purple body, vinous in appearance, light pink head consisting of about one finger's worth, nice retention time, not a lot of lacing. [3.75]

S- Rich tart cherries as expected. Fair amount of funk; leather and musty oak come to mind here, but certainly not as funky as some of the other Belgian lambic blenders produce. The cherries are strong here and deliciously so. Sour wheat and dry oakiness as well. [4.25]

F- Sharp cherry tartness, leather, sharp and dry oak, sour wheat. Cherries all the way with a dry, cherry tart-filled finish. Good complexity, a bit less funk than I'm used to but with a very nice mouthwatering acidity. [4.25]

M- Medium bodied, crisp and refreshing, nice carbonation. Exceptionally mouthwatering in terms of the acidity which is not bracing but brings a very nice dimension. Strong tart cherry flavour permeates the finish here. [4.25]

O- Very nice complexity in an Oude Kriek; plenty of acidity that isn't bracing, a ton of tart cherries and a nice funk. I enjoyed this one and for the price, I would easily get this one again. [4.25]

Final score: 4.22
