So it is basically the oily leffe blonde with the weirdest hop combo ever. Felt like this beer had no clear vision of what it wanted to be. Oily and bitter are pretty much the key tasting notes, not good. Smell is decent enough because of the hops and yeast.

From belgiuinabox. In Grimbergem glass. Playing Blackwell Epiphany. I find it drier than the other leffe royales and with a slight metallic touch. Not bad but I prefer the crystal version much more, and even the standard leffe blonde

4 pack from the Monoprix in Nice, France for ~6.20 euro.

Appearance is a pretty conventional clear copper body and 4-5cm white head.

33cl brown glass bottle. 7.50% ABV. Fancy black and sanguine label. Best before: 18/10/16. Foiled over pry-off crown cap.

Belgian yeast is evident in the taste, with a subtle spiciness. Blonde malt backbone. Has a crisp overcarbonation. Mild herbal and floral hop presence.

Balance isn't really dialed in, but it's a cohesive albeit unharmonious build. I don't know why the ABV is so high; there isn't a lot of flavour for it to hide behind.

Unrefreshing. Smooth. Wet. Medium-bodied.

This shameless attempt by AB InBev to cash in on both the American hop fervour and Leffe's faux Belgian abbey reputation somehow succeeds as not half bad, even if it does pander to clueless European consumers. I doubt I'll buy it again, but it's drinkable care for its high ABV and the Belgian yeast characteristics are nice.

L: Golden orange with a créme white head.

S: Hop flowers with a fruity finish.

T: Sweet, fruity with overtones of hop flowers

F: Pleasantly smooth

A very refreshing beer that is unique in taste.
Goes well with salads and other light dishes.
