Way too much dark fruit action going on for my palate too handle. For some reason I cannot get into the dark Belgian ales. Cheers! C- (70-74) score range

A) Pours a nice deep mahogany color with a sizeable light beige head. When held up to the light, the body looks more garnet than brown. Decent lacing appears as the head subsides.
S) Malts and yeast lead the way, with notes of spiced bread and sweet fruit following close behind.
T) Moderately sweet, with a nice blend of fruit tastes (fig and raisin) and spices that aren't overbearing. A bready malt flavor finishes out the bill, making for a well-balanced taste that is quite pleasant, if not terribly unique.
M) Medium-bodied with a similar level of carbonation, making it very drinkable. The carbonation is effervescent and short-lived, and the tactile sensation of the brew doesn't overstay its welcome.
O ) A very enjoyable beer. 6 packs are available for 7.99 at Total Wine, making a decent value for an import (especially as Belgians can be pretty pricy). Definitely worth a shot if you like the style, and it will likely become one of my go-to brews when I'm in the mood for a nice Belgian Dark that won't obliterate my wallet.

Poured from fridge temp. Pours a beautiful dark brown/reddish with a nice amount of head. Quickly dissipated. Nose is full of wood, wheat, dirt, caramel, a bit of cinnamon spice, fig, pizza dough, and some nice dark fruit (although subtle). Taste is really smooth. Initially a bit sweet, but a bitter backbone comes through on the aftertaste and lingers for a bit. Definitely getting tree bark, caramel, bread, dark fruit, and some nuts. Mouthfeel is really nice and creamy and robust. Overall, this is a really nice beer from the style.

Pourse deep Garnet red with a big, creamy, tan head. A good amount of carbonation.
Smells of yeast, dark fruit, caramel and malt.
The wonderful yeast and clove stand out immediately. Dark fruit and malt very pleasant. Carmel and very slight coffee. This is wonderful. I would have never guess 6+ alcohol.
Incredibly smooth. I need more from this brewery!

A-pours a cocoa cola color with a tan sudsy head with good retention
S-caramel, burnt sugar, slightly herbal, roasted notes
T-more caramel, toffee, biscuit, roasted notes in the finish
M-medium bodied with above average tight carbonation
O-not the best example of the style, but good value and widely available

11.2oz bottle bb 9/1/19 poured into a chalice at fridge temp 6.5% ABV. The beer pours bright reddish brown with short lived light brown head. The head recedes to a paper thin island with no lacing. The aroma is faint with caramel and some yeasty clove notes. The taste is burnt sugar, pepper, clove and maybe a hint of banana. The mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied, highly carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. The beer is balanced with bitterness seeming to be more roasty that hop driven. Overall, ok, but most all abbey beers are better. Scored as a Belgian dark ale not a dubbel.
