Pourse deep Garnet red with a big, creamy, tan head. A good amount of carbonation.
Smells of yeast, dark fruit, caramel and malt.
The wonderful yeast and clove stand out immediately. Dark fruit and malt very pleasant. Carmel and very slight coffee. This is wonderful. I would have never guess 6+ alcohol.
Incredibly smooth. I need more from this brewery!

A-pours a cocoa cola color with a tan sudsy head with good retention
S-caramel, burnt sugar, slightly herbal, roasted notes
T-more caramel, toffee, biscuit, roasted notes in the finish
M-medium bodied with above average tight carbonation
O-not the best example of the style, but good value and widely available

11.2oz bottle bb 9/1/19 poured into a chalice at fridge temp 6.5% ABV. The beer pours bright reddish brown with short lived light brown head. The head recedes to a paper thin island with no lacing. The aroma is faint with caramel and some yeasty clove notes. The taste is burnt sugar, pepper, clove and maybe a hint of banana. The mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied, highly carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. The beer is balanced with bitterness seeming to be more roasty that hop driven. Overall, ok, but most all abbey beers are better. Scored as a Belgian dark ale not a dubbel.

Head holds up throughout the drinking session and pours a deep, dark amber color; it was like a Mahogany Rush (like the Montreal rock band!). Slight bitterness (probably more than there should be though) with malt overtones and aromas. Very good beer to drink as you watch football in December.

Had it from a bottle in Grenoble. Leffe Brune shows the characteristics yeast notes from the brewery. This supermarket ale isn't a great example of a Belgian dark ale as it shows off notes
