The Yukon’s number one selling draught (yes, including the mega-breweries), this ale was designed to be an almost “non-ale”. It is golden in colour, brilliantly clear, and clean across the palate. The mix of 5 malts still provides subtle character in the body, and the addition of malted wheat provides a slight, but characteristic citrusy finish.

Hopped with noble Saaz, Sterling and UK Golding, the bitter is barely perceptible, but mild hop flavours linger in the after-taste; the dry, clean finish provides a refreshing perk at the back of the palate. The full package mimics the classic milds of the British Isles, with a bit of Yukon spirit, just to make sure you remember what part of the world it’s from!

Lots of carmel, malt, a bit of European hops, nice lace. Malt aroma. Not up to Pale ale standards, and really a British style, not American, as nowhere hoppy enough. Flavour is Grassy and carbonation, watery. Did I say it needs some significant hops? Nothing special.

Yukon Gold is medium golden copper in color. Head is fluffy, white, and doesn't last very long.
Smells up front of toasted grain, with soda cracker taking more of a back seat to the grain. Subdued nuttiness lends support to malt elements. The nose has a slight soapiness to it. Not much, just enough to be an element in the overall profile. Not a huge hop presence on the nose.
Yukon Gold starts off smooth and rounded. Malt flavors come through more nutty and earthy than grainy. Hints of leather and green apple come through in the center. The finish at least, is crisply, assertively bitter. Give Yukon Brewing credit for giving this pale ale a traditional English bitterness when other breweries would have hit you with a more American hop profile.
There's just not enough going on here to inspire me into fandom. I mean it's okay, but it could definitely be better. A little more character on the nose would be nice. More caramel sweetness and malt flavors to stand up to the bitterness. maybe.

12oz bottle. No idea how old this is. Medium darker yellow body. Toasted grain, a bit of earth, biscuit, light floral, a bit of caramel. Touch nutty perhaps. Fairly bland, not much going on here. Lighter body, a bit watery, quite boring.

341ml bottle poured into tulip.

Pours a clear amber with a thin cap of white head that leaves scattered blobs of lace as it recedes.

Smells of crisp grain, baking bread,, faint citrus zest, cut flowers and mild earthy, grassy hops.

Tastes of crackery caramel malt, honeyed grain, minerals, faint muddled citrus and more grassy floral hops.

Feels light and smooth. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation. Finishes off-dry.

Verdict: Recommended. Easy to see why this stuff is so popular up there.

A disappointingly mild beer. Yukon usually brews quality beers, but they really missed the mark with this one. It's smooth to the point of being forgettable. I regret buying a six pack.
