this is a great beer from a brewery who is quickly establishing themselves around denver, i have seen more and more tap handles lately, and heard a lot of good buzz. this is maybe my favorite beer i have had from them so far, enjoyed from a fresh crowler. for me, this one is as much a belgian pale as it is a saison, i dont get any wild, rustic, or funky farmy yeast notes, and thats really the missing element of this one (how good would this be with a brett pitch?!), but the hops are true nelson, awesome and fresh, and the yeast that is here is a pleasing fruity belgian strain, and the hops and yeast go together amazingly well, despite its cleanness and lack of a more old world saison vibe. fresh nelson abounds in this ever so slightly hazy golden brew that appears to be carbonated like a soda pop. white wine, pineapple, and herbaceous goodness from the nelson in nose and taste, and with the peach and apple notes in the yeast, its delicious. floral elements in the yeast too, makes this seem more delicate than it is, and the fruity esters linger long through the finish, even though the beer is on the drier side. this is definitely a different kind of take on the style, but its a great beer, and one i will go back for! glad to see these guys doing so well, especially with the belgian styles. this is tasty as!
