I was highly disappointed with my visit to the Virginia Beach Bottlecraft - but only because they didn't have the Breuery collaboration beer Geburtstagkranz that they were advertising online. It wasn't sold out though, they just hadn't received it in Virginia Beach yet. Damn! Oh well.
Beyond that I was fairly satisfied. I ordered a simple, fairly basic beer to sip at while I wandered around looking.
It's a small place with a decent-but-not-great selection. I wasn't blown away, and to be honest I think they have a better selection - at the very least a wider selection - over at Total Wine & More which is just a little bit away. Where they crush Total Wine & More though is freshness. I was picking up beers that were 9 and 10 months old there, whereas everything at Bottlecraft was fresh. And, of course, they have a better cold-selection as well with most of the selection at Total Wine being more basic.
So I picked out a few things, and then I considered having another, more interesting beer - I think they have 24 taps - but it was the middle of the day and there was only one other customer in there and I had other things to do.
If I were to go back I'd certainly stop in and have a beer and relax. It's a nice looking place, although I can imagine it might get loud later on when it's full with all of those hard surfaces. In any case I'd certainly recommend it, and I almost forgot, it's also right across the parking lot from Tapped Gastropub which makes for a tiny little pub crawl!

New beer bar that is supposed to serve food as well - went on soft opening day so no food so can't state anything about that. One of those beer places that concentrates on the beer and conversation as they have no tvs or games but just some music and plenty of beer. I am a little jaded, I'll admit, so the beer selection didn't wow me but there were some good finds. Definitely a must try for all the locals, and if any tourists at the beach want to take a little drive this place is better than what's on the oceanfront.
