On Tap at Fassla Brewery, Bamberg Sat in the hallway seating area. Great atmosphere.
.5L Golden Pils served in Pils
A- Clear Light Gold, fluffy two finger head with good retention, minimal lacing.
S- Has deep floral and citrus notes. Smells very aromatic, but also has a touch of skunkiness.
T- Nothing special, a soft maltiness with a lot of hops thrown in at the end. Mellow bitter aftertaste.
M- Medium bodied, mild carbonation, crisp finish.
D- This is a decent beer. I wouldn't have it again however.

Brauerei Fässla "Gold-Pils"
2,80€ / ,5L at the brewery on 16 September 2017
Notes: Clear golden body beneath a full head of white that slowly settles into a creamy finger-thick head, and then down into just a surface covering - but nice lacing is left behind. The aroma is of grainy malt with just a touch of herbal hoppiness. Thought it would be happier, but OK, and the flavor follows. This is von fass auf Bayerischer antisch so it's got a moderate, smooth carbonation. It's got some sweetish malt to it but there's also some stiff bitterness to balance it, and it finishes dry once the dollop of residual golden malt has passed. Some light herbal notes remain. Overall it's really well balanced and remarkably drinkable. It's also quite clean, and it has a great malt component to it. It's a perfect example of the southern German Pilsner style.

Picked up one of these at the brewery in Bamberg, from cask. At the brewery, they served lager and pils...pils seemed to be the drink of choice for most patrons, at least in April.
A- Poured an ultra clear deep golden(a little darker than other Pils) with a one-finger thick fluffy white head. Head was almost creamy/velvety in appearance. Moderate lace remained. The appearance was really nice.
S- Strongly bready, with minor undertones of yeast. Straw, roasted malt. Nutty with a bite, almost peppery. While all these descriptors might sound nice, they were all kind of muted.
T: Bready malt hits first, followed by some typical German hops. Despite being fresh, from a cask, at the brewery, the hops tasted funky, and not in a good way. They provided a decent amount of bitterness, but not a whole lot of flavor. The bready notes were nice, and the straw-hoppy finish was pretty balanced and nice.
M- Light-medium bodied with a decent bite. The texture was fairly creamy and enjoyable.
D- Overall a pretty average Pils, maybe a little below. I was eager to finish this and get back to their Lager.
I'd pass on this again, but glad I had it because it was definitely a bit different that most of the other Pils I had.

500ml bottle
A- Pale golden, great clarity. Two fingers white head, pretty dense for the style. Nice retention, decent lacing
S- Quite weak, even for the style. A touch if grassy bitterness and some floral notes
T- Grainy malts, with that typical pilsner crackery crispness. Slight, delicate fruitiness on the palate (lemon, apple). Grassy/floral, bittering finish, not that i could actually recognize any particular flavour, just a good dose of clean, refreshing bitterness
M- Light body, average carbonation brings a bit of life. Just nice, nothing remarkable
O- Highly drinkable, refreshing, perfectly balanced. Basically all you would expect from a bavarian pilsner. Maybe just a bit too anonymous

Huge head, nicely creamy, lasting on a transparent pale golden color body. The smell is malty and sweet, slightly dry, but not annoyingly grainy. The taste is clean and crisp, malty and sweet with refreshing notes of citrus. Aftertaste gets hoppy and dry, in a flat way (on the whole tongue). Mouthfeel is round, smooth, very enjoyable, lightly bready. Well crafted. One of my favorite pilsners to date.

I had this from a wooden cask at the brewery.
A: Very clear, brownish-yellow. Fluffy white head, some retention and lace.
S: Peppery hops (Saaz & Spalt?) with a bready undertone.
T: Lots of spicy hop flavour, a little bread & caramel. Clean, crisp bitterness.
M: Moderate body is fairly creamy. Light to moderate carbonation.
D: Very drinkable.
Probably the best Pils I've ever had!

Served on-draught into a 25cl Fassla glass in Bamberg. Reviewed from notes. Expectations were pretty moderate; I tend to prefer Czech Pilsners to German Pilseners.
A: Pours a two finger head of no cream, decent thickness, and below average retention. Colour is a clear yellow.
Sm: Slight cream and plain clean barley. A very light strength aroma.
T: Clean barley as a foundation. A hoppy climax. Some underlying cream. Very simple but also quite refreshing. Balanced to an extent.
Mf: Smooth with nice coarseness on the climax. Wet. Refreshing.
Dr: Average ABV. It slides down easily enough, but it's far from special.

50cl serving in seidel at Faessla, Bamberg
A - Golden body with excellent clarity. Average retention/lacing on the 2 finger creamy white head
S- Earthy hop with notes of lemon, pepper
T - Biscuity malt with lemon hint. Earthy hop comes through but malt still dominates in clean finish.
M - Medium body and carbonation.
D- Tasty stuff, typical franconian lager. Perhaps needs more hop presence to make it more of a pils.

BB 1-12-05. Nice head that's lasting and a opalizing light golden beer. Nose is clean and full malty and shows a slight hopnose. For a pils IMO litle too malty and could have some more hops but overal clean. As is taste that gives good maltyness, litle maltsweet and very nicely bittered. Yes this is very enjoyable and good carbonisation gives it a fine mouthfeel. One of the easiest srinkable pilseners I know and one I'll meet again if I'm near Bamberg.

umm...unremarkable pils. i enjoyed drinking it because it was beer, but i'm not about to buy a case of it. some foam above the light gold body. the hop character was commendable, with some nice bitterness and floral notes. i got what i expected: a golden German lager

The liquid is clear, the colour pale gold. The 1½ finger high head is off-white. Some lacing occurs.
The smell brings some bitter flavours. Some moss, but it is mostly clean and mild.
The taste starts with a clean and powerful bitterness. Some mils sweet notes. Quite clean, if it hadnät been for a slight vegetable-DMS flavour. The aftertaste is clean and balanced with a dry bitterness. Hints of beef stock in the finish.
The carbonation is medium strong; the fresh bubbles are medium sized. Light dry liquid.
Some DMS, otherwise a fine dry clean pilsener.

On tap, served into half litre handled Pils glass. Pale colour, large foamy head, clear. Noble hop smell, fairly fresh, reminded me of a north german pils. Tasted a nice balanced hoppy bitterness, nutty aftertaste. Moderate carbonation but was still easy to drink. Standard refreshing Pils, well made but more like something found in north germany than Bamberg

Pretty okay pils that's leaning more in the Czech direction than most of the German ones.
Standard straw yellow that's definitely a few shades lighter than their hell and some other pils beers in town.
The flavor is ultra-creamy with just a hint of (mostly acceptable) diacetyl. The finish is malty, and overall I'd say it reminds me a bit of Urquell, but not quite as good. Hops are there, but are fairly mild.
I think this one misses the mark a bit just because of the high standard of their other brews and the other pils brews in the area.
That said, if you favor the Czech pilsners , this might be right up your alley. Personally, I thought the lagerbier hell and schwarz were much better.
(Edit: I had this beer 2 years later and it was worlds better. In fact, it was one of the best pilsners I've had. No diacetyl, very fresh, and hoppy without being bitter. I suppose that's worth taking into account.)

This beer is bright gold in color, the bright them carries through to the taste as well. It has a definite hop bitterness to it, and it is accompanied by a mild maltiness to it. It finishes with a nice hop / carbanation bite that hits your tongue and says pay attention to me.

After the lager I tried this lovely pils at Fässla.
It is a clear golden color with a pillowy white head. Laces wonderfully.
Super light and clean. There isn't too much going on, but everything there just kills about any other pils I have had. There are light grains and hops running around yet not as hoppy as say a fresh Urquell. This is where fresh drinking and great brewing collide. Gotta try this while in the 'Berg!

Sampled on tap from a wooden barrel at the brewery in Bamberg.
This pils poured a clear, gold color with creamy white foam that settled but clung and left lace. The smell was a clean, mild malty aroma. The taste was malty with hints of bread followed by a some floral hops and finally some bitter hops in the finish. Overall a rather mild flavor. The mouthfeel was smooth and dry with medium-light body and modest carbonation. There was a mild lingering hoppy aftertaste. This was a good pils, but a bit light on flavor and body overall.

Another one of the great beers express mailed over to me from Bavaria. Pours well, actually looks slightly cloudy straw color. Smells wonderful. Tastes like a Bavarian pils very clean with a pleasant afetertaste. One might say a little spicy. Smooth and very drikable, wish I had more.

I first tasted a Fässla offering at the Bamberger Biertage this year. I was not impressed by the specialty brew that they presented and thought that one of their standard offerings would beer more to my liking. I was wrong. The beer pours wonderfully with a white head about a finger thick and a steady carb stream clearly visible through the clear gold body. I can only describe the aroma as funky. Malt sweetness is detected. but, it is mostly a wet hay kind of aroma that pervades. The spicy hop notes are barely detectable. Overall I found the scent to be kind of unpleasant. After taking the first sip I had to double check myself and make sure that I hadn't pour carbonated water into my glass. Actual flavor in this beer is almost non-existent. Only after the sour aftertaste kicked in did I accept that it was beer that i was drinking. Not really a drain-pour, but not far off. The mouthfeel, however, was light and refreshing with the perfect level of carbonation to tickle the tongue.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this beer to anyone. There are many breweries in Bamberg, I would suggest any of them, with the exception of Fässla.
