A- Bright Yellow, Medium to High Carbonation. head formed quickly when pouring and stabilized at about a half an inch thick. Bubbles keep rising as it sits.
S- Not sure I can think of anything good to say about this beer from the smell.. reminds me of Budweiser or other such beers that make you cringed at just the smell.
T- Has a light bitter taste but not much else, a tiny hint of hops in the after taste. Very watery. Will be able to finish it so I cant say it is as bad as a bud lol
M- Carbonated water I guess. Sorry just over all disappointing with this beer. I do enjoy a good Pilsener
D- I dont plan on buying more of this beer, but if I was at a party and this is all they had I would at still drink it with them

After reading other reviews I may have to give this beer another try. I might be acting to harsh on it.

I try not to let the price I pay for a beer affect my liking or disliking it it. That said, paying $9.99 for a six pack of a beer means that you are expecting something more than a Bud or a Miller. This pils was a big disappointment and did nothing to increase my opinion of this brewer. I have had Leikeims on-tap at Ludwig's Garten in Philly and in bottles. They always seem to be somewhat weak and insubstantial.

The Premium poured a hazy yellow with almost no head and no lacing at all. The head disappeared within moments of pouring. The best by date was still four months off so this beer shouldn't be this flat, and that was the problem. This six pack was flat. I don't think there's any excuse for that.

The aroma was a standard German pils aroma, and didn't smell bad. The taste was less than impressive. It had a bit of hops taste to it but it mostly tasted funky. It was so light in the mouth that it seemed to be a lite beer, and I forced myself to drink it and its five companions over a two week period. I kept expecting the next one to be the good one. It never happened.

A: Golden pour with a large white fluffy head. Dissipation leaves decent lacings.

S: Sweet malt and faint bitter hops. Nothing to write home about.

T: Sweet malt and very faint bitter hops.

M: Aftertaste is rather short and holds only some bitterness. Medium body and rich carbonation.

D: More like a Dortmunder than a German Pilsener. This didn't make me to happy...

From: Beertopia, Omaha, NE
Date: "Best before 10/03/13" stamped on label
Glass: Tulip

Leikeim's pilsener is rather disappointing when compared to their other offerings. The aroma and flavor are surprisingly muted and one-dimensional, focusing on sweet malt and bitter hops, which is disappointing given my other experiences with the German pilsener style. While this may give a completely different character on tap, I do not see myself purchasing another bottle from a shop.

Pours a >2cm head of small and medium-sized bubbles, white in color, producing a very dense-looking foam. Head has above average retention, gradually fading over the course to a 0.5cm ring around the glass and a thin film atop the body. Lacing is substantial, fairly huge washes coat the entire perimeter of the glass. The body is a pale yellow color, semi-opaque, with carbonation rising from the bottom center of the glass. Light brings out even paler yellow colors,

Aroma is primarily of fairly clean grain and bread dough with a bit of floral and bitter European hop character. In general, a bit subdued and rather unimpressive.

Taste is primarily of sweet, bread dough like flavor with notable graininess and a bit of cardboard; hop presence is minimal and primarily in the back of the palate and aftertaste. Front of palate picks up malt sweetness, a bit of bread dough, and clean grain. Mid-palate finds modest European hop bitterness mixed with reduced bread dough and grain flavors, while the back of the palate amplifies the bitterness over other components. Aftertaste of medium-strength European hop bitterness and a bit of grain.

Beer is medium to medium-light in body, with low-medium carbonation, resulting in a mouthfeel that is lightly fizzy, but primarily lightly foamy and smooth. Closes dryly, with little stickiness remaining across the palate.

I had this beer a couple of times on-tap, but ended up being disappointed often. Like most Pilseners, Leikeim has a golden body with a thick, fluffy head and does appear very promising. However, this beer is merely bitter and lacks any other taste. This was probably one of the worst Pilseners.

Pale golden color, tending to grren. White, abundant head.
The smell is quite hoppy, and also malty. Quite fresh, and balanced.
More maltiness in the taste, even if a good hop is still present. Maybe a touch of biscuit.
Quite full in body, wih malt and biscuit.
Decent beer, easily drinkable.

1PINT .9FL.OZ. bottle
Served in a pilsner glass

It pours a slightly hazy, pale yellow color. It is topped with two inches of creamy white head that leaves some decent lacing.

There is not a lot of smell. I get mostly grain aromas and some bread and maybe a little floral hops.

I get caramel and biscuit flavors. There are no hops to speak of.

It feels undercarbonated to me. The flavors coats my tongue. I would prefer a more effervescent lager whose carbonation scrubbed my palate clean leaving me wanting another drink. This beer flavor lingers and becomes tiresome.

It wasn't my favorite. It was worth a try though. I'm sure it would taste entirely better on tap.

from 2012: Aroma and appearance gave the expectation of great things. Taste was a slight letdown, however. Nice fluffy head, and pleasant aroma of malt. Taste has a dry, metallic finish that kind of puts a damper on this beer. I had high hopes at first...

0.5l bottle with football shaped swing-top.

A pale golden beer with a large white frothy head.

Smells not too bad actually. Mild grain, hops and some soap. Not much to tell really.

Not a very exciting beer as you would expect. Grain, bitterness and some other sweetish flavour. Prehaps a certain metallic or medicinal sort of note in the background that is not too pleasant.
But overal this is rather balanced, quite bitter and easy to drink.

Thin mouthfeel, less than that many others prehaps, with good carbonation.

Quite an average pils. Maybe slightly better. But I could session this ofcourse.

Reviewed according to the style.

Straw gold with a fluffy head and wispy lacing. Smell is malty with a spicy hoppiness. Taste is much the same with a pale malt backbone and nice spicy hop bitterness in the finish. Clean overall with nice if ordinary character. Light crisp feel and carbonation. A good summer quencher

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that slowly died down, leaving a thin head covering the surface and a coating of bubbles down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of bready malts are present in the nose along with notes of sweetness and hints of grassy hops.
T: The taste has flavors of bready malts along with slight hints of sweetness. Although there are also hints of grassy hops, no bitterness from the hops is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little clean and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather easy to drink but there's nothing overly special about the smell or taste. It seems like it could use a little more hops to balance off the malty sweetness.

During my first visit to Staffelstein, a friend gave me a Leikeim Premium. Knowing I was a big Hefe drinker, she said I may not enjoy it as much as most of the other Baverian brews. She was partially right. Leikein Premium has a heavy nose when the plop top is first opened. Out of a glass, the head is gone in milliseconds. The taste is aggressive.
Having said all that, you'd think I did not care for this beer. On the contrary, I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was a beer that may not be your favorite, but could grow on you. It is definitely a beer that deserves a second shot if you did not enjoy your first as much as you might expect.

Got a swing-top .5L at Euro Market, dated Best By 10/11/12. The beer poured a clear, light gold with a tall white head that leaves lacing. I like the spicy lemon hops finish, but this beer is missing the bready barley of a great pils. There's a creamy grain undertone, but it's quite mild. It is also a notch more drinkable, but lacks the flavor to really make that a bonus. Still, not a bad beer.

A light fluffy lacy head the maintains its size for quite awhile. The body color is a bright gold, definitely a pils, no doubt about that with the color. The smell is that of a heavy pils which in truth is not how it tastes. The taste runs on an average pilsner flavor that surrounds the tongue. No definitive outstanding flavors, but… a good pils taste.

I found this brown half liter swingtop bottle in a Moscow grocery store. The label is black and gold, with the coat of arms above the name. The purity law applies. Best before 4/6/06, I opened it on 3/20/06.

Pours a clear solid gold under a two finger white head with nice body, excellent retention and intricate lace patterns most of the way down the glass. The nose is mild, with the standard sweet malt but lacking the tangy hops a Pils should have. The mouth is light and appropriately carbonated. The taste is solid if unspectacular, with a nice dry bite following an almost chewable bread first flavor. Just a bit of espresso emerges in the aftertaste, leaving an enticing dryness and stimulating the salivary glands. I could definitely drink a few of these.

Pours with a pure white head over extremely light straw colored liquid...fresh and bready/malty nose. Taste is light-bodied, light on malt, light on hops...just light all around. Salty notes pop up mid-taste. Finishes up light and quite tasty, just don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. Makes for a nice warm weather session beer.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pilsner glass. Had a pale yellow color and a clear texture. There was an inch and a half of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Great lacing.

S: A decent, but not exceptional aroma of hops, malt, and a little citrus.

T: Tasted basically like it smelled: Light hops, a tinge of lemon, and some malt. A little thin in the finish, but alright nonetheless. Pilsners aren't complex flavor-wise, and this is no exception. Still, a pretty good flavor.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a smooth finish. Light-bodied.

O: Not a spectacular beer, but drinkable and refreshing.
