Serving: Can
Canned: Jan-23-2019 (Consumed Mar-8)
A:
It pours a cloudy gold with a finger+ of uneven (as it settles) airy white head. Ok retention; scummy rings of lacing. (4)
S:
Lemon, mango, woodsy bite. (4)
T:
Moderate earthy bitterness, crackery malt, faint tropical aromatics at the finish. (3.75)
M:
Semi-dry, a little fluff to it, pretty crisp finish with lingering hop presence. (3.75)
O:
A decent experimental hop combo.
It pours looking like you'd expect for the style. The nose is bright and citrusy with a little underlying mango sweetness and woodsy bitterness. I'm guessing this is amarillo, galaxy and motueka, respectively. It tastes more dusty, polleny and bitter than it smells with only a hint of the fruity aromatics showing up in the finish. Nice all-around beer. I'll bet it would have a bit more oomph fresh, but you can tell that they've gotten better at filling their cans, and the new date stamp is also helping their beers to consistently improve in my eyes.
