This is a really good beer, fully achieving the goal of making a full-bodied, characterful, yet easy drinking lager-type beer. I didn't know that this was supposed to be a "California Common" beer the first time I had it, but it makes sense.

It looks good, deep gold/pale amber, a bit hazy, with a medium white head that steadily thins to a wispy top with a foamy ring and leaves some lace.

The aroma is nice, full-bodied pale lager with lightly fruity grain, lots of apple, some grass and hay.

The taste is similar, a good, full-bodied, malty, slightly fruity lager character with plenty of grain, apple and apple cider, grass, hints of lemon and honey. It has a nice, lingering aftertaste of grain and apple with light bitterness and light sweetness.
