smallish place with some character - bar to one side, some high top tables in the middle, then some low top tables over by the windows. clear wall to into the kitchen. Only downside is the chairs are a bit uncomfortable - like the desk chairs I had in our old elementary school. Long draft list is split between sour beers, farmhouse/abbey beers, hard cider, a few hoppy beers, and a few dark beers. you can get full pours or sample glasses of anything, and you can get "full flights" of any of the categories. Bottle list is sours and hard cider, and a few Trappist beers. Food menu is a mix of snacks, small plates of veggies/meats, and pizzas. We had a mix of snacks and small plates and enjoyed everything. Service was good.

What was here before? I don't remember, but I think it was a small food mart. Cinder, Copper & Lace is a small bar and kitchen, conveniently near the Broad Street theaters. Taplist is generally consistently good, with a lot of different breweries and styles to choose from, as well as a decent cider list, if that's your thing. One cool thing is that they organize the beers by style on the menu, and you can get a full sampler flight of any of these styles. The service I thought was pretty good. The bartender was attentive and quick even when the crowd started picking up. The menu isn't too extensive, but everything looks good. Pizza is the main attraction here, but they also make a good burger, and the appetizers seemed pretty tasty as well. Usually Monk's is my Rittenhouse go-to, but if that's too slamming, and/or if I'm pregaming a show somewhere, Cinder makes for a good alternative.

Friday around 6:30 PM. Pretty dead.

Stopped in towards the end of Philly Beer Week. All 6 of us had a different beer lists on our menus, and the server was clueless as to what was actually on draft. That's fine, because it was a busy week but the server gave us a ton of snark when we asked questions about which was one correct. She also didn't clear things up ("I think that's the right one. I'm not sure."). We ordered a few bottles, and she brought the wrong one, then gave us a ton more attitude about it when we (politely) mentioned it. Mistakes happen, but don't make it the customer's fault. She didn't charge us for the incorrect bottles, thankfully.

Bottle prices were awesome *except* for the lambic. They were insane. Half pour options for drafts are always appreciated.

Only ate some snacks and small plates since we were waiting for the dinner crowd to clear out at Monk's.
