Silky smooth with notes of roasted hazelnut, dark chocolate and toffee; our Fur Slipper is a fusion of the traditional Milk Stout with the rich tones of a Russian Imperial.

Poured from a can. Very dark in color with a foamy tan head. Smells of roasted grain and chocolate. Flavors of roasted grain, malt, milk chocolate and ends slightly smokey. Creamy mouth feel, full flavor, really good.

Hop fusion Fur Slipper (4.25, 4, 3.75, 3.75, 3.75)
Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a billowy head of brown colored foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading slowly over time and leaving a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is very strong of a roasted malt smell mixed with aromas of crème and milk chocolate. Along with these aromas comes some notes of brown sugar and molasses as well as a little bit of coffee and char.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet molasses and brown sugar flavor that is backed by lots of roasted malt. At the start that is a rather decent showing of some woody and char flavors as well, with some notes of milk chocolate mixed within. As the flavors advance the milk chocolate gets slightly stronger in nature, all while the molasses fades a bit. At the end, there is a little bit of vanilla and more milk that joins the taste profile, and with a bit of booziness, it ends up leaving one with a roasted and moderately sweet warming taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is rather thick and creamy with a carbonation level that is low. For the roasted malt, lighter milk chocolate, and bits of char and wood, the feel is rather nice and makes for an easy and delicious sipper.
Overall – Not as heavy on the milky flavors as I would have anticipated initially. Its got a decent roasted malt kick with some sweetness to back it up. Overall a decent stout.

12oz can, wine glass, no date just “the great escape” on the bottom.
Oily brown with just a bit of garnet at the bottom of the glass. A chocolate brown head builds quickly and just as quickly dissipated leaving just an oil slick and fingernail thin ring of bubbles.
Chocolate syrup, graham crackers, toasty and roasty malts, milk chocolate.
It coats the mouth with that Hershey’s syrup malty milk chocolate stickiness, it’s quite a sweet beer. The finish has welcome dark roast malt bitterness and burnt flavors and even a little herbal hop.
It’s relatively thin for a stout, but the coating, sticky texture makes up for it. The carbonation is medium-high, but works.
This a core beer for one of my favorite local breweries. Imperial Milk Stouts seem to be popular in north Texas for some reason and Fur Slipper pours with the best of them.

Black colored beer with a large brown colored head.
Smells sweet and of chocolate and charred malt. Smells of chocolate and more faintly of berries. Not a whole lot of subtle scent underneath though.
Starts out rich and on the sweet side with lots of charred malt with an after taste of ash. Big chocolate flavor. Tastes a bit like chocolate syrup, it is quiet a sweet beer. Pretty much it, sweet chocolate.
Mouthfeel is genuinely thick.
Overall a tasty yet sweet beer. Not a chance you would notice it is 8.63% Alcohol.

Poured into a snifter. At first glance, the head after pouring was very thin and lacing was nonexistent. Hazelnut came through in the aroma, with the chocolate being dominant. This followed in the taste, with the chocolate a bit overbearing, though the hazelnut was barely noticable. Feel was very thin and watery for a stout. While overall I wouldn't call myself disappointed, it's certainly not what I'd call a great beer.

Hazelnut hardly comes through. It's a pretty basic but competent milk stout.
Just buy Left Hand and save yourself the disappointment.

Pretty unremarkable stout. Really sweet and over done on chocolate. Almost no head or lacing on pour.
