Came here and was very impressed. The value made it worth the drive. There were several offerings that I had not tried before at very good prices. Came away with a few local offerings including a Hard Root Beer and a Coconut Cream Stout, but the selection could have had more for it from a craft perspective. Guys in the beer aisle were knowledgeable and helpful, going so far as to look up the ABV on a bottle of beer I was contemplating. Decent prices on the beer, but the real value was in the harder liquors. Picked up some Glenmorangie Lasanta and Laphroigh Quarter-Cask for 20-30 dollars less than it is priced at up in Nebraska. 29.98 for the Lasanta! Will plan on coming here again, and when I do I'll save up a paycheck!

Byron's is probably one of the better/best beer stores in OKC. This was my go-to spot while living in OKC. While the amount of stores in OKC and overall selection is not endless, this is the best you'll get in OKC and they do a good job. They have a pretty nice assortment of bombers, and get some of the more established craft beers. Odell, Rogue, Prairie, Left Hand, Avery, Great Divide...what's there not to like? CO is represented well here.

I really do not understand the hate for Byron's on this site. An open-minded and discerning individual would look past the homeless panhandlers, the grime, and the huge wine selection to find some of the "cheapest" good beer in town.

I guess this all goes to prove the point that people can find something wrong with anything... "Hey I've got beer for a helluva lot cheaper than anybody else, want some?" . . ."fuck you man, I'm gonna go pay more somewhere else!" Seriously.

I've been going to Byron's for many years, and it never fails that I find a new beer on the shelf that I haven't seen anywhere else in town. Byron's will always have the local and regional special releases, and has a fairly good selection of Belgians. I dare you find your ass a magnum of La Fin du Monde for six bucks somewhere else.

As far as value, so many times I find sixers for a dollar or two less at Byron's than I do at other beer stores (I am not exaggerating). While the beer stockers here won't hunt you down to talk beer (tell me where in OKC do they actually do that) they will always make sure any questions are answered. The check-out girls are always super flippin' nice as well, and I've have never, ever been treated rudely, which is something I can not say for many of the other beer stores in town.

If you're scared of a little grit go ahead and avoid this place. If you're scared the homeless boogeyman dude with no teeth is gonna bite your whimpy butt then go somewhere else. However, if you're wanting to save a buck and possibly find something you might not be able to find otherwise, then stop on in and find out that there is a definite reason Byrons parking lot is always full.

I really don't like this place.

A ~ Very drab and dirty with Linoleum floors. Reminded of Family dollar, with a blue and white taking the place of red and white. This is the biggest store in OKC so They are ALWAYS stocking things and the beer department is cluttered and pales in comparison to the wine department which is actually very pleasant and organized.

Service ~ Seems like the only people who I see the beer department are people with trams stocking things (mostly Honey brown and other macros). The best employee I know for beer works in the wine department. If you CALL Byron's to check on a product in stock, chances are the beer department either won't answer or won't know and would "have to check."
If you ask

Selection ~ I feel like everything is just very haphazard. They organize by brewer but the placement is just...off. They don't have single 12oz/mix-a-six, just a Pint/750 section that is pretty much just Merchant du Vin products with a few randoms thrown in. Looks like they almost never get purchased. The entire bottom shelf of this section is just random six packs that aren't priced or anything of the sort! As if customer/employees picked them out, changed their mind and just threw them on the only available shelf. Eh...

V ~ It is a known fact that Byron's IS their own distributor
so everything they have is as cheap as it gets (sierra nevada 7.29, Full Sail 7.09, Bridgeport 7.40, etc.)
I only go here for Unibroue (5.59), Bridgeport IPA 12-packs (14.09), Torpedo (7.50), or a case of Native Amber Pints ($35.00). Good value, but it is not pleasant to shop here.
Their "beer sales" are basically reducing anywhere from .04-.50 cents of a six or twelve.

I also hear that they are one of the distributors paying lobbyists to keeps the "only 3.2 in gas stations/refrigerated beer law" in effect. Wack.
Christmas time, this is the place to go for Celebration.
Avoid unless run-of-the-mill is what you're searching for.

Definitely not impressed with this "Big box mart" of liquor stores. For the holidays I determined that something that would be a good starter gift for my friends that are coming over to the "Beer Geek" side from BMC styles would be the Chimay 3 pack sampler complete with Chimay goblet. I had seen these at other stores, but they were sold out. Calling around Oklahoma City and Norman I found that at the time, Byron's was the only place that had any in stock, so I made the drive.
When I got to the store, the guy stocking the beer wasn't familiar with Chimay (really?) and had to get a supervisor, who showed me back to where the Belgian's were (hiding in the corner) and I stated I was looking for the 3 pack. He went into the storage room and came back with one set, but the glass was broken and I rejected it. He brought the other two out they had and both had a ton of dust on them. Checking on the vintage they were summer of 2009, which is OK for any of the styles, but should've at least been covered for presentation's sake. The store itself was not clean and the feeling was like a very large convenience store.
When I got home, I just wiped the boxes as best as I could and wrapped them up. When I gave them out as gifts, there were issues with both sets. One set's glass was chipped on the rim and the first time a cold drink was put into it, the chip cracked down the side to the stem. The other box apparently had been dropped as the Chimay Premiere (Red) had busted and leaked out so there was only a broken bottle (and dreams). I went ahead and repackaged it and took it back.
When I arrived, I explained the situation and stated that instead of my money back, I would like to give them back the whole box and contents ($24.99) for one 4 pack of the small Chimay Grand Reserve (Blue/$9.99). I was told all sales final and that I should've inspected it before leaving. I pointed to a sign by the cases of beers which basically said "You open/You buy" and that either way I would have had to buy it. Again, I was told it was my problem, not theirs.
I will not go to Byron's again. Instead I will drive to Tulsa or Dallas in order to get something as at least I will get better quality products and have a nice road trip as well.

Big store focused mainly on liquor, probably the best in liquor/rum/wines/vodka etc.. in OKC . For this big a store you'd think they would carry alot of beer, not really, they have very few to choose from but the prices are a bit better than the other places. Beer snob don't bother unless you're picking up anything other than beer.

Staff was very helpful the few times i went in, although they have little knowledge they worked as a team instead of brushing my off straight way.

This place might surprise you nevertheless, show up during prime winter brew season and october fest season and they just might have something worth getting, only do it if you live close or are nearby, don't go out of your way to stop as 9 times out of 10 you'll be disappointed.

Byron's is located near downtown Oklahoma City with an easy access to I-235. The caters to a wide variety of people, I personally feel a majority of their clientel are boozers. I seen a lot of 40's going out the store in brown paper bags. The inside look like a dank office warehouse, bright lights, dusty, and well used floors that have seen better days. The store is in the style of a warehouse with a large variety of goods. The beer selection is decent at best. There is a large selection of cheap imports and domestics. A small array of craft brews. There are a large selection of mainstay craft brews like Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams. I really didn't find anything that would be consider rare or most sought after brews. The service there was fine. I was asked if I needed help and I did decline. My experience there was just mediocre, the store has its highs and lows.

This place is easily accessible from I-235 / I-35.

It has a (for Oklahoma) good selection of wines and whiskey's they typically have about 2 long shelves of beer. The selection isn't all that amazing. You're mostly going to find well known beers, but the great thing about this place is it is cheap. Dirt cheap. This is where a lot of other liquor stores get their grog I've heard tell.

Don't expect them to know the difference between a dortmunder and a marzen. Or even the difference between lager and ale, but give it a quick look around and find your favorite well known import. This is the place to go before a party, but not for beer snobbery.

Stopped into this place during my three-day stint in Oklahoma City. Very clean warehouse-ish building with beer located along the right wall. Service was decent. Didn't get offered any help - I don't think anyone could help me since I wasn't shopping for Coors/MGD/Bud. A pretty good selection for OKC and their silly beer laws (Even beats Georgia in my opinion). Had a cool display case up front with Boulevard Smokestack Series, had normal offering from Boulevard and a few other locals that I didn't recognize. Plenty of Belgians and Germans. Prices were relatively reasonable too. Overall, this is not a bad place. Average quality, service, and good selection. I would shop here again.

Byron's is not as well known for its beer as it is for its dirt-ass cheap spirits and wine. I have not found a cheaper bottle of Balvenie (scotch) in the country. That being said, the beer department does suffer. I've had a bad sixer or two from here without realizing it until I pop that first top. While wine service is pretty damn good, liquor and beer service are lacking. Attendants seemed to know little about beer styles and usually point to something that's either well known or on special. And that's pretty much all Byron's carries. Well known beers from around the world. However, as I've stated before, this place is dirt cheap. If you already know what you want and don't feel like paying that extra dollar, hit up Byron's.

Since this is Oklahoma, one of four states with rediculous liquor laws which only allow for warm beer above 3.2 abv to be shipped here, this place is the best I can find. The quality is good, the two guys that I know of that run the beer dept are quite helpful and cool. They keep me abreast of what new brews are headed for this state. It seems that some of the distributors are getting some good stuff in soon, hopefully. In the city they probably share the the largest selection with one other store, but the prices at Byron's are way better. I only rate a 3 on selection, just because of the laws of the state. But the service is great and the quality is good.

A good selection of beer which seems to be improving over the last 6 months. Excellent diversity when it comes to English and German beers (they were one of the first local liquor stores to carry Schneider Aventinus), and average coverage of American microbrews.

Prices are average. They are pretty cheap on more common semi-micro brews like Shiner, Red Stripe, etc. but they tend to be pretty averaged priced or even higher than average for rarer stuff (i.e. they raised the price on Aventinus and Bert Grant's Perfect Porter significantly over the last few months).

Also one nice perk is that they carry several brews - Choc Beer from Pete Place as well as the Hubert's offerings.

Byron's is in a very accesible location just off the I-235 & NE/NW 23rd St. exit(s) on N. Broadway Ave in OKC. Their beer selection isn't quite what it used to be, but they still carry a solid selection of both microbrews & imports at some of the most competitive prices in the entire state. Once in awhile, they'll have some close-out selections and a person can get a real bargain. Case in point, I once purchased a mixed case of Belle-Vue lambics for $30.00 (or approx. $1.50/bottle) just because they, "weren't selling very well" at $4/bottle. However, a person really needs to know what they're looking for because the staff is pretty "unattentive" when it comes to beer. Byron's has a great selection of liquor, wine & spirits and there's no problem getting help in this area. The only real negative is that Byron's no longer orders beer kegs due to the state's new "keg registration" law. Stop by & stock up!

They seem to have some of the best beer prices in the OKC area. Generally they seem to be a dollor or two cheaper on most six packs. Also the selection of imports is pretty good, considering the state and not a bad selection of micro's. Overall not a bad place to purchase beer, if you are in the area. Also on my last beer visit, I was purchasing some Trumer Pils and the beer guy gave me a free promotional Trumer glass, pretty cool!

I did not look at the wine or liquor, however it appeared that they have a large selection of both items.

The best selection of beers I've found in Oklahoma , and probably the best over all prices also . Ditto for the wine and booze department. The beer seems to move pretty quick here ensuring a fresh stock.

This is a busy joint with an eclectic cliental ranging from the low brow trench coated wino's and alcoholic housewife types to the yuppie wine coniossoueurs.

All beer is sold at room temperature per Oklahoma state law.

Service is lacking and un-informed in the beer department, but that's ok if you know what you're looking for.

They move a lot of product at this place, so what you get is probably fresh if it sells at all. That being said - with Texas as my only reference - Oklahoma has a somewhat limited selection and good beer has to be bought hot, but there is no limit in alcohol content. It's a pretty no frills place all around.

This is an edit to my previous review. I decided to print out a list of the top 50 Oktoberfest beers today to give them a try. I took the list in with me to Byron's to see what they had from it...the beer manager saw me and walked up with his untucked shirt and asked what I was doing. I told him what I was looking for, showed him the list, and asked if he had any recommendations. He asked who I was with and I told him nobody. He gives me the story of how they have people come in and price check - ok, fair enough, but he insists on implying that I'm doing something wrong and when he sees the store owner he orders me to put my list away. This is after he has seen this list is clearly nothing more than a top 50 Oktoberfest beer list that I'm referencing for what they have in stock. I told him I'd like to speak to the owner and when the owner came up and I explained he told me to make myself at home, but no apology. My encounter today was not only the worst beer buying experience that I've had so far - it ranks up there with my all time worst shopping experiences. If this were a minimum wage guy just trying to make his way in life this sort of thing would be more understandable, but I have a really hard time understanding someone in management behaving in this manner even in a semi-wholesale type environment - just no excuse.

I travel 30 miles each way to get to this store and I have shopped there exclusively almost all year, but I will seek another store until that beer manager is gone even if that means less variety. I refuse to support him with my purchases.

Ok, a revision of my last revision - I broke down and went back a few weeks ago after seeing what people in other states were paying for Celebration Ale. Somebody who knows the beer manager must read BeerAdvocate.com. He did his best to be helpful and courteous. Additionally they had Fuller's IPA for $5.19 a six compared to over $9 at Cellars. Deals like that help me to overlook poor service. (Celebration is still $9 tho).
