Kalashnikov is a 14.5% ABV Russian Imperial Stout brewed with a ton of Oats, Chocolate Malt, Coffee Malt, and Rye with added Brown Sugar and Clover Honey and then amped up to 100 IBUs to balance out the sweetness and alcohol to make a deceptively drinkable Imperial Stout. Our canned variant has rich notes of dark chocolate, pecans, treacle, and rich black coffee.

12oz can from my brother. Near black pour, bubble beige head. Aroma is roasty, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is sweet, cocoa, bitter, almost syrupy. Fairly thick.

Picked this beast of a Stout up at Joe Canal’s recently since I love most of what I’ve had from Icarus. Absolutely no doubt that this was a beast of a beer but at the same time, this was incredibly fun to drink, knowing that it might put me under for the night!

Of course it poured dark and indeed, it had a thick, bubbly, and long-lasting tan head to top it off as it evenly settled and took its time to settle down. Not a lot of lacing was left behind but that was the only attribute of this beer that was underwhelming since this did not last for very long! Lots of coffee, bitter chocolate, pecan, and brown sugar in the nose as coffee creamer and clover honey emerged in the taste; especially once this fully warmed up. Sweet, sticky, and rich, there was a ton going on here and indeed, it all worked together as I easily felt this beer's heft. Nicely slick and lightly carbonated, this was lovely on the palate as I did my best to not let the booze overshadow everything else that was going on here.

For all of the strength present here, this was a fast sipper as I had to pace myself through this. The aftertaste was full of caramel as this felt like coffee spiked with cordials and aged in bourbon barrels. Couldn't read what was on the bottom of the can, but only because the writing was slanted and smeared. It would be just as easily to blame it on the alcohol but with so much to enjoy here, who's to notice. This was easily one of Icarus' best offerings and worth obtaining for their fans, or anyone who appreciates a good and accessible Stout. Enjoy this year-around as the perfect nightcap!

Solid black, light carbonation. Body is just above average
Aroma is roasted malt, alcohol, dark fruit, bitter dark roasted black coffee
Taste is mildly sweet with coffee bitterness that intensifies and strengthens through the aftertaste.
Its silky smooth, delicious, high abv is really well hidden. This is a delicious beer that's worth a try

This is delicious. Dark brown with a tan foamy head, decent retention, light lacing. Roasted coffee, cocoa, molasses, sweet malt. Moderate to thick body, moderate carbonation.

Pours jet black with a cinnamon/mocha colored super creamy head, which dissipates slowly.Smell is muted, some cocoa, coffee, old leather, some char. Taste coffee, cocoa, definite strong booze, again some char and maybe some anise, some rye flavor.Feels medium to heavy body, mildly chewy, creamy, Overall a definite sipper. This is one pungent, gnarly stout. I have heard very good things about Icarus and this is the first beer I sampled. Probably not the best style to judge from. Revision: Actually the 2nd beer from these guys. I had an outstanding NEIPA-

Canned on 11/26/2019. Poured into a pint glass at approximately 55 degrees. It pours an inky, oily black with nearly a finger of frothy, medium-khaki head and thick lacing. When I popped the can I could smell the dark fruit immediately. There is also the aroma of roasted malt and peanut, along with a whiff of caramel. The taste opens super roasty with with abundant char, burnt malt and nuts, and tobacco. While initially it's highly bitter, as the glass warms I'm tasting a lot of black cherry and subtle caramel. While the sweetness somewhat tempers the bitterness, it's nonetheless a very bitter brew (in a good way). This stout is creamy and viscous with mild carbonation, and the 14.5% packs a wallop. You don't taste the booze but you certainly feel it. Sip it slowly and savor it. Overall, I rated Kalashnikov higher than Kalashnikoffee because it's a basic, roasty, bitter Russian Imperial Stout - which I prefer. It justifies its lofty rating. Icarus has done an outstanding job and I look forward to drinking it often - especially on a cold winter's night with snow on the ground. Za vashe zdarovje!

Can to sniffer.

LOOK: dark black pour, thick look, small medium brown head,. Head reformation is difficult to achieve, but when it comes frothing back up it looks like something out of a nautical horror movie....think Creature from the Black Lagoon.
AROMA: roasted malt, roasted peanuts. A hint of smoke, but the peanut aroma is awesome and dominant.
TASTE: sweet and bitter roasted malt, peanut and chestnut is lighter. Hint of coffee.
FEEL: full bodied, but not necessarily chewy as its a smooth sipper. Respectable underlying carbonation.

Fantastic RIS. Another impressive brew from Icarus. I am Really enjoying this. Possibly the best straight up roasty stout I've had.
