Great IPA that I was thrilled to be able to finally try. Big growler was cracked open the first night. Served cold and poured into a pint glass, this one was consumed on 07/03/2010.

Big and deep amber pour. Cloudy, but it settles out nicely leaving just some nice carbonation streaming up from the bottom of the glass. Tight head of white hangs in at about two inches before settling back down. First whiff reveals a huge floral bouquet of citrus that is simply ripe for the picking. Rich notes of tangerine, pineapple, touches of grapefruit, and a rich buttery mid malt profile that likes to peak its head up. As the warming continues so do I on my onslaught to the taste buds. Huge citrus smack down in progress now. Really just nice, pungent, and quick hitting grapefruit and orange notes that simply wreak havoc on the senses. Buttery for a moment before the finish dries it up and leaves you searching, gasping for another taste.

Overall a hell of an IPA. One of the best and easiest to drink I have had in a long time. Thanks for a great trade!

Flip-top growler filled at the brewpub.

First imperial pint pours with a 1/2" beige head, over the cloudy golden copper brew. Head disappears at an average pace, with lasting lace. Aroma is citrus, with a touch of vegetal character. Taste is sweet to start, almost orangey citrus in the middle, with a medium to strong bitterness at the close. Mouthfeel is smooth, especially for the style, and drinkability is good. I'll take it.

Cloudy dark amber color with a rather fizzy head and great lacing. Aroma is very gentle for an IPA, especially an American one. Round fruity citrus comes through nice but doesn't satisfy my craving for the fresh hop aroma. The taste is filled with both heavy malt and hop flavors. Interesting full bodied malt flavor with big, tingling bitterness. I don't really reccomend this beer, I would go for something else at the willi...they have a lot more to offer.

Growler filled on 06.06.2007; Poured in a tumbler.

Peach-tinted amber with an unfiltered haze. Mild, creamy white head with good retention as an intact sheet. Scattered remnants of thin and spotted lacing with above average hold.

Mild citric hops met with an equally matched boquet of floral hops. Semi-sweet malt backbone. The aromas are not overpowering of hops; more reminiscent of an English IPA.

Lemon-flavored hops with a touch of grapefruit. Hints of pine that linger into a balanced, toasted malt character. The bitterness is slick and swarming, highlighting a floral hop flavor melded with pine.

Medium bodied; slick and smooth at first, but a bit thick as all of the different hops vie for the spotlight.

A decent IPA, but sub-par for Wollner's usual spectacular IPA offerings. The hops are definitely in a battle, but I'm not sure if there's a clear winner.
