Brew: Blackstone Brewing Company - Black Belle - Coconut
Intro: 12 oz. poured into a tulip glass. Shared with a friend.
Appearance: Pitch black, Minimal head maybe .25 inches. Minimal lacing as I drank
Smell: Equal balance of Bourbon barrel and coconut, chocolate brings up the background.
Taste: Followed the smell. Well balanced between the barrel and the coconut with a chocolate bottom end
Mouthfeel: Smooth to medium full mouthfeel, Low to medium carbonation.
Drink: Easy drinking. Enjoyable
Conclusion: First offering from this brewery. Acquired it because of the coconut and was not disappointed. Would try others if they presented themselves.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into my snifter. The beer is part of my winnings from the world cup league.
The beer pours jet black in color with no light passing through my glass. The aroma is fairly assertive right away from the pour.
I get bourbon notes, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, some roasted notes and a big hit of coconut! not really much of an ABV hint here and the hops are completely overshadowed on the nose.
there is very short lived fizzy tan head that fades to nothing quickly after the pour. A few chunks of what appear to be shaved coconut float on the edges of my glass.
First sip reveals a silky smooth texture on a fairly thick beer with very fine and tingly carbonation. Physical traits make this a bit of a sipping beer.
Flavor is what I expect from the nose, but with a heavier dose of chocolate and here the bourbon shows up a bit too. There is some sweet coconut and vanilla mixing mid swallow and then a bit of a bitey finish that I attribute to the ABV, even though it isnt listed on the bottle, I think its over 10%. There is also a bit of warming in my belly after each swallow.
This is a big, fairly boozy malty brew, just like a fine imperial stout should be. Well done Blackstone. I would buy if I saw it on the shelf in my travels.

Poured into a snifter. Opaque dark chocolate color with scant coconut floaties. Faint tan head. Aroma mainly bourbon and oak. Some coconut and chocolate. Taste was a fantastic balance of bourbon, chocolate, and coconut. Absolutely delicious. Full bodied and easy to drink. Outstanding beer.

I'm trying this at the brewery.....wow. The beer poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent and taste was mounds bar and absolutely delicious. The mouthfeel is fuller in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's a fantastic stout.
