It seems that all great decisions start over coffee or beer, or perhaps both. The thought of putting these two flavors together and this shared idea just might be the greatest thing since sliced bread. The "Shared" adventure between select brewers of Side Project, Goose Island and Perineal beer houses now pretend that they are in the coffeehouse with a captivating imperial coffee stout.

Coffee Shop Vibes rolls onto the nose as soon as it rolls into the snifter with an immense aroma of fresh brewed dark coffee blends and a roasty toasty backbone of caramelized sweetness, woodsiness, alcohol spice and char. Caramel and cream align on the tongue and begin to saturate the early palate with its sultry sweetness and its silky smooth latte textures.

Lightening in both maltiness and creaminess, the middle palate seems to part in order to provide a coffee dominant middle palate. But enough caramelization and milkiness remains in order to support a rich and roasty taste of peruvian and columbian coffee blends that's just shy of the intensity of espresso. Woodsy, soilish and peppery, these java additions trends pleasantly mossy, nutty and remiss of toasted oak.

Full bodied and simmering on the finish with smoldering chocolate, the stout's coffeehouse influence is front and center. A long linger of fresh ground coffee and cocoa is slow to release from the late palate as the finish carries a slight bourbonesque spice.

Stark black with a dense but fluffy, sponge-like mocha head.

Tons of medium roast coffee help to form a chocolate peanut butter aroma with some heat behind it.

Smooth, thick and luscious, the froth is soft and dense but the finish is semi-dry, and flavors translate from the nose well, with chocolate, peanut, and tons of roasty coffee.

So alot of people are going nuts over this, and i kinda get it, but also i dont. So the aroma is very nice, strong coffee presence. The flavor is good, very sweet, but nice use of the coffee. My issue is the body, its almost jello or pudding. Its like semi solid. Dont get me wrong, i love a good thick stout; but the body here is artificial feeling and doesnt jive with me. Its like they added commercial thickening agents. It is the consistency of a thin body lotion

Holy smokes. So balanced. Rich velvety stout. Medium bodied coffee. Chocolate is the highlight. Top notch. Hard to tell where the stout ends and the coffee begins. Beautifully and harmoniously blended.

Amazing coffee smell - very nutty and roasty coffee forward, like drinking an excellent black coffee. Not overly sweet and excellent feel. A top notch coffee stout!
