Shimmering gold-orange with a thick white foam.

Smell is out of bounds: skunky with toffee drizzled popcorn and flame-flicked orange zest.

Sharply sour grapefruit and orange are joined by a hint of white wood with white peach via a crisp, thin fizz that burns the lips a little before the sticky, semi-dry swallow.

A - Pale orange body, superbly clear and with minimal white head, no real lacing.

S - Strong sour cut, grapes and spicy earth. Subtle funk behind, suggesting wet-rind cheese.

T - Sour, with a core that reminds me of a German white wine, full of grape flesh, bright tart acidity, but never punishing. Delicious.

M - Somewhat brisk carbonation, not really puckering, but tart enough to feel the acidity on the sides of my mouth.

O - This is a first class job, with a simple structure that still offers rich nuances. Superb.

8 oz. pour at brewery. Beer color comes in at a darker yellow with small white head. Well carbed. Smell is a bit different than what I am used to in a regular Side Project beer, but that is because the aging does not take place in barrels. A slightly sweeter take than SdF as well, for what I am assuming the same reasons mentioned previously. I really enjoyed the beer.

this is the same base saison recipe as one of the popular side project ones, but its done entirely in stainless instead of wood. still some funky old world yeast coolness to it, but its a much simpler beer than saison du fermier is, although i can appreciate this one outside of a comparison a little better. its clean and bright, not bogged down by the wood or the maturity of the yeasts, it all seems fresher and newer, i pick up some more hops here, and like how dry it is at the end. the grains are nice too, obviously wheaty, but its layered well, and with the somewhat delicate funkiness in here, its both complex and drinkable, a perfect combination for saison in my opinion. there is some fresh cut lemon to this, white grape, and even apricot fruitiness, a lightly belgian estery yeast component, and pretty high carbonation. really summery tasting to me, with the freshness and the lightness, just tart, not sour at all really, but still as yeast driven as one would want a saison to be. its cool that these shared beers are as good as the side project ones, i am really seeing no disparity in quality between the two brands, and thats just fantastic!

On draft at Side Project Cellar. Served in a wine glass. Pours a slightly cloudy golden yellow body, one finger thick white head, good retention, not much lacing. Smell is very suspiciously like Saison du Fermier, with that smooth cheesy funk, lactic acid, lightly toasted grainy sweetness, minerals. Mild-moderate tartness on the palate, light but smooth cheesy funk, lactic acid, minerals. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, soft, good carbonation, delicious. I think that while this is of course not full blown Fermier, as I missed the chardonnay and vanillin presence, this is a wonderful saison that I hope they continue to crank out on a regular basis.

Pours a golden straw color with a very minimal head. Mildly opaque. On the nose there's funk, yeast, lemon, and some slight sweet breads. Taste is tart lemons with a lingering dry finish. Carbonation is minimal.

I love this beer. "Shared"!! Super lemony and tart! Wine characteristics with those sour characteristics as well! Medium feel with nice and dry in the back!
