Notes: Introduced in 1954, Blue Star was awarded the Gold Medal of Leadership in Munich. A popular Newfoundland lager, Blue Star is aged for smoothness and delivers a full, smooth body. Blue Star has a slight fruity aroma that is balanced by the unique taste and aroma characteristics from selected Hallertau hops.

I picked up a couple cans of this because there wasn't much else to choose from at the bodega in St Barbe and it said it was brewed in NL. Brilliantly clear pale yellow color with a bubbly white head. Grainy malt faint hops. Cold and wet works but otherwise look elsewhere.

Perfect example of what a good lager is. Great for summer evenings, barbecuing, or just something to sip on. Nice flavour, pours clear. Refreshing finish, and a nice after-taste.

Not ridiculously carbonated like most macros, smooth with fruity overtones, very clean dry finish with no bad aftertaste, a 5% beer what tastes as light as a 4% beer. Absolutely love this brew

I am thinking they are going for some market subset with the blue star , but I can't seem to tell the difference between it and almost all there other beers. It'a drinkable, and the company is actually one that is not so bad and would buy over at least 20 other really horrible beers in a pinch, so it has that going for it, which must be nice.

Another 355 ml can, one for the collection.
Clear yellow, thin and bubbly white head, very little retention, minimal lace.
Smell slightly floral and sweet.
Taste is more on the sweet, corn/adjunct side, a bit of fruitiness. Very little flavour, kinda bland.
Light to moderate body & carbonation, fairly smooth, dry finish.
Nothing wrong, it's one of those beers that falls into the category "it is what it is" - a light, easy to drink, macro lager. Its not supposed to have big hop flavor, so you cant punish it for that.
I would probably have some if it were readily available in my area.

341ml bottle poured into a pint glass

A - basic yellow beer colour, nothing special. Small head that was gone in a flash

S - smells of barley, slight alcohol scent, hints of fruitiness

T&M - average carbonation, you cantaste the hint of fuit on the finish. A little watery.

D - your basic Canadian big company brew, nothing special to be found here

Somewhat malty aroma. Straw colour with some fizzy white head. Taste is minimal grain, thin mouthfeel and dry. There may have been a drop of hops in the finish that you can run through without noticing. Not the worst macro. Can drink a little bit.No too carbonated. Thanks Mark.

A: Clear yellow, white head, very little retention, some initial lace.

S: Faint catty & floral aroma.

T: Catty, corny, slight sweetness, hint of fruity esters, very little flavour, but not impressed with what's there.

M: Light to moderate body & carbonation, fairly smooth, dry finish.

D: Slightly offensive like other macro's, I'd never order it again.

Made by the Blue Star Brewing Co. (no, not the one in Texas or is it to be confused with Blue Stars in New York or California - this Blue Star is much older) of St. John's, Newfoundland. This beer has been around since 1954. Now owned and operated by Labatts Canada, Blue Star has been returning as a popular local beer in Newfoundland. Beats me as to why - must be the marketing campaign.

Poured out a pale yellow colour with a big head that shrank away before my very eyes. Splotchy lacing. (If splotchy wasn't a word, it is now, 'cause its the only way I could discribe how this looks.) It had an aroma that was fruity/estery. Pretty thin and almost tasteless. Some flavour of fruit (apples or some other fruit) but it as hard to tell as there was so little flavour. The only aftertaste is a sense that something wet and cold went down. Blue star: don't bother.
