I feel there are many better shandy's out there. I also would rather have a labatt with lime apparently.

About on par with Leinenkugel Summer Shandy. Consistent, lemony, and thoroughly drinkable.

I spied this recently at Country Garden 6-Pack and given today's heat and humidity, I am anxious to give it a whirl.

From the bottle: "Refreshing Lager Beer with a Splash of Lemon".

It was a screw-top bottle, so I got things unscrewed and commenced a heavy-handed pour, producing two-plus fingers of foamy, bone-white head with moderate retention. Color was a slightly hazy Pale-Straw (SRM = 1 - 2). Nose had a sweet lemon scent, like Country Time Lemonade that I used to sell as a kid. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium. The taste was lemony, but a bit too sweet for my liking. A shandy/radler should be more tart than sweet to enhance its refreshing nature, IMHO. Finish was semi-sweet, refreshing, but with room for improvement.

Pour a Labatt into a glass. Squeeze the fuck out of a lemon into the beer. Wala - Shandy.

Bought as part of a case of Labatt Brewers Collection Summer beers from Southtown Beverages on 4/26/13. Case price $ 10.99.

poured from a 11.5 oz bottle into a glass tumbler, served at fridge temp.

appearance: pale gold, one finger white head, scant lacing.

aroma: pale malty with a good amount of lemon.

mouthfeel: decent, just shy of full.

taste: pale malt and artificial lemon.

notes: the artificial lemon is offputting.

Picked this up for a dollar at the House of 1,000 beers.

A - bright golden yellow with a surprising bit of head that sticks around for a while. I get about 14 of head.

S - Typical Shandy it's like light beer meets lemonade with spritz lemon zest and some underlining hops.

T - Not too off putting it pretty much taste like a club soda with a twist of lime. Maybe some hops and some underlining skunk. Not that great

M - Light, champagne like with a nice bit of body for a light beer.

Overall I have had better Shandy and this makes the Leinenkugel version look like craft gold. Avoid if you can even for a dollar.

Last of the Labatt select variety pack:
Poured into a standard pint glass, color is straw with an off white head that dissipates pretty quickly, a bit of lacing.

Smell is lemon zest nearing concentrate strength, not bad, no malt notes - reminds me of lemon lime soda.

Taste has more malt backing than the smell, defintely more lemon zest and maybe a hint of hop flavoring - really almost tastes more like soda.

Mouthfeel is carbonated well, not excessive as some of the soda pretense would suggest.

Overall, actually tastes like a really light ale mixed with sprite with a touch of lemon concentrate. I'd rather do this on my own than have it pre packaged.
