Murky foreboding body - nice slick lacing. Sure enough, I smell chocolate, vanilla and strawberry just like it says I should. Not sure if I dig the synthetic strawberry notes though. This apprehension carries over to the taste - I enjoy the initial malange, but the linger bitterness also draws out some good humor style cheap strawberry ice cream flavors that ruin the linger. Cool concept, but maybe try other strawberry flavoring or strategy to incorporate it next time around.

Hazy, murky brown with a slight pinkish hue; dense, thick, tan head. Smells like Neapolitan ice cream; strong strawberry overtone. Big combination of flavors; strawberry, cocoa and vanilla; very subtle alcohol notes buried deep in the taste. Heavy body; silky and velvety with a bit of airy quality; plenty of residual sugar body; sweet finish.

While no longer a fan of ice cream, I do have memories of Neapolitan ice cream and generally like the combination of three classic flavors -- vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. For a beer to emulate this could be dangerous by overdoing things or just plain getting the balance all woppy-jawed. In this case, I'd say the brewer's nailed things. There beer certainly delivers a balanced approach to the flavors, presenting some fine complexity. Not a beer I would have all that often, but it seems to be a fine one for late fall/winter holiday seasons.

My bottle's ABV was listed as 11.0%.

kind of dig the concept here, and have been seeing more and more of this stuff coming through colorado, package and draft now. its neat to bring in such relevant breweries for collaborations, for most of us bottle logic is fantasy camp still (even if we wait in line for 25 minutes at gabf for something heady only to be told its a special tapping on a different day despite the misleading signage, but hey man, would you like to try our hefe?). anyway, this one is killer, whoever is responsible for it, i cant believe how much this actually tastes like the ice cream, all melted and beered up in my glass. the strawberry comes though surprisingly well for how dark and strong this is, and the fudge is all the way through it, its incredible really, but especially in the flavor, where all three of these elements and a very good imperial stout are all there together sharing the spotlight, not sure how they did it, but its fire, and puts other things i have had in this vein to shame. its not sweet, but vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry abound in it, intense sure, but unforced to me, and balanced enough with some bitter dark grains to not be too desserty to drink a whole one. i didnt expect much from this, thought it was a gimmick, but it came close to making my head explode. a really professionally base beer jazzed up just right. they should be proud of this one, it has definitely sold me on some more of their stuff. superb really. yum!

Pouring from a 12 oz. bottle into a snifter glass. This beer pours out dark brown with little highlights and forms a brilliant pinky width of dense mocha colored crown. The smell is of artificial strawberry ice cream. Just smells a little too sickly sweet. Vanilla in there as well but it just seems too fake for me. Like a milkshake that was made with a lot of syrup. Maybe some banana in there as well. Idk, just a lot of sweetness going on in there and none of it really seems focused. Cherry cough syrup. Wheww. The taste comes in with huge strawberries, first and foremost to let you know they are there. Then it slides in to vanilla before finishing slightly with chocolate. Taste is a lot better than the smell to me. Especially with not getting as much "artificialness" but it's not greatly wowing. I honestly think I would take Saugatuck Neapolitan stout instead. I like the body, especially for a milk/sweet stout. But this is just a little too cherry cough syrupy for me

Poured from a 12 oz bottle
A: Pours a deep dark mahogany with a slight tan head. The head iis on the thick side and subsides to a ring around the glass
S: First smell is strawberry. There is also an aroma of charred malts, dark chocolates and coffee
T: There is a sweet strawberry flavor up front. Like strawberry syrup. Notes of vanilla are throughout. There is dark chocolate with some bitterness.
MF: Creamy and thick. The sweetness finishes dry. I was 2/3 of the way through the glass before I looked at the abv. I was shocked that it was 11%. This beer could be dangerous.
O: This is spot on for what they were going for-Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. Perfect beer for a cold rainy Sunday night.

Really tasty and underrated. You get candy strawberry with a dark chocolate character and a touch of vanilla. If you see it, go ahead and grab you one.
