Notes:
This is not a drill, we’re dropping a brand new collaboration stout with our Florida forever friends at Angry Chair Brewing on International Stout Day… 12.3% ABV Midnight Toffee. This brew is DEC-A-DENT. Better yet, it doesn’t matter if you were team Skor or team Heath, everyone can agree the Midnight Toffee will satisfy cravings for rich melty chocolate, caramel notes from Belgian Candi Syrup and a boozy backbone to bind it all together. They say sharing is caring, but this one you might want to keep all to yourself.

Pours deep, dark chocolate brown with a two finger head. Aroma is intensely bourbon and conveys dangerous ABV waters ahead -- one of the most danger promising smells I've sampled so far this year. The aroma profile also is sweet. Taste is intensely chocolate; nearly fudge. Deep, deep chocolate. The ABV is front and center -- abandon hope. One good sip and you feel like hiding in the corner and smiling with that far off gaze in your eye. You hardly notice how smooth the beer is and intensely chocolate. This is one of the keepers.

16oz can split with the wife, quite a sugary-sweet treat here. Dark, oily black pour yields a tall mocha-colored head that fizzles quickly away. Strong, rich aromas of caramel and toffee on the nose, syrupy and cloying. The palate unfolds with more of the same, slick and rich and cloying with that same strong toffee and caramel vanilla, with some notes of almond rocha and peanut brittle as well. This is all dessert all the time, and just too cloying all around to be enjoyed by one.

Poured a black body with no head at all. The aroma comes across as chocolate and coffee bean yet not so much toffee. Smooth, sticky, fuller-bodied with a dry cocoa sweetness and hints of vanilla and coffee bean with a syrupy, sugary sweetness that has a touch of toffee and slight lactic feel. A good dessert beer but it gets a tad cloying and is a little thick at times but still enjoyable.

A - Pours pitch black with a very thin tan head. Light clingy lacing.
S - Aroma is maple, espresso and dark chocolate.
T - The taste is maple, vanilla, dark chocolate, espresso and finishing with the candied sugar.
M - Full body with with medium carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a crisp mouthfeel.
O - Nice pastry stout. The flavors are all there, but definitely diabetes in a glass.

Pours a slick, thick black with minimal head that disappears within a minute.
Strong, bold enticing aromas. Toffee/treacle jumps out first. There is also vanilla. Butterscotch. Despite the ABV, there is no boozy note to the nose. It smells like a treat/dessert.
On the tongue, the toffee and vanilla work together. Tradition non add-junk stout flavours are absent, but there is a slightly bitter finish that is welcome as it cuts into the pastry stout sweetness a little. The beer is sweet as expected, but not nearly as much as I’d expected. I’d probably prefer sharing a can of this, but I don’t think my 5 year old twins will oblige. They prefer water to beer.
A little syrupy in the mouth. Not in an off-putting way, but noticeable. Substantial.
Overall, I like this. The alcohol is imperceptible. The flavours are on point. A different body would improve it for me, but it is definitely quite good as it is.

Shimmering black with a tan collar. Smell and taste have the same elements: indeed what they have done to the candi sugar does make it have a toffee complexion, impressive, vanilla and chocolate linger. The taste has a sweet maple/butterscotch edge that grow with time, wicked sweet by the end of the glass. Feel cloys a bit cumulatively, malty and full without much weight. Fun dessert but the dentist will be calling after this one

Pours out like a normal looking stout. Not opaque motor oil, but noticeable translucence during the pour itself. A finger of beige foam. Nice smooth appearance to it. A good looking stout.
Nose is reminiscent of butterscotch and caramel accompanied by chocolate and vanilla. There is an inkling of roasted malt.
Taste really fills out the toffee flavor. You get more of a distinct toffee impact on the taste compared to the noses more generic confection profile. There are hints of maple early on, but they quickly turn to a toffee or caramel. Roasted malt shows up a little more on the taste. Chocolate is present but not quite dominant. This is a sweet brew, but not as much as some Anchorage or Evil Twin stouts.
Mouthfeel is fullbodied and smooth, but a little drying on the back end. There's this nice envelopment of silky richness that turns into a little bit of heat and sharpness.
Overall a really enjoyable pastry stout. This brew does one thing and it does it well. It doesn't have too many adjuncts that turn it into a sickly sweet mess or overly perfumey garbage. It nails the toffee chocolate combo while not becoming overbearing. Simple. Good. Easy drinking. Well done Untitled Art.

Tastes like dessert in a can and its 12% alcohol. Some say it’s cloying; I say what more can you want?

Definitely the sweeter side of stouts, but it’s very tasty. The Belgian candi sugar and cacao nibs give it a bourbon barrel aged type vibe.

16 ounce can, canned on 09/26/21. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that didn't stick around for very long. There's a small amount of lacing. Aroma is very sweet, the brew smells like toffee, vanilla, cream, chocolate and some nuts. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some butterscotch, dark bread and coffee flavors. Definitely a pastry/dessert stout, it's pretty sweet but not too sweet tasting. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's slick and a bit syrupy and creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. Smooth and easy to drink. I liked this brew, worth picking up if you're into sweeter tasting imperial stouts. I thought it was tasty!

End goal: make beer taste like Heath candybars. That's what exactly what the brewers of Untitled Art and Angry Chair have in mind when heading into their collaboration "pastry stout" recipe.
A basic and jet black color, Midnight Toffee Stout settles into the glass with darkness underneath a dense skirt of mocha tan foam. The suggestions of chocolate and tofee are delivered in the beer's scent, swirling about with mocha, coffee, nuttiness and toasted toffee. Those caramel and chocolate flavors mull about on the early palate as the malts are a direct dialogue of dark chocolate, toffee and butterscotch.
As its decadence coats the middle palate, the more robust taste of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, candied walnut and toasted pecan create a savory and unabashed dessert experience on the tongue. Full saturation of toffee laden malts start to become fudge-like on the late palate in a pleasantly cloying, slightly bitter balance late in its taste.
Recklessly full in body, the ale is immense. Its richness is redolent of browning batter as the malts cling to the tongue without restraint. Cut slightly only by its richness, the beer is a chocolatier's dream, balancing only with a spicy sense of kahlua. A long and savory-sweet draw of toffee candy lingers effortlessly and welcomingly into the next anticipated sip.

16oz can from Tavour. Inky black pour, syrupy, flat. Buttery, chocolaty aroma, boozy too. Rich, thick toffee taste, decadent. All high notes here. For me, toffee is my favorite sweet treat, and this beer is a real treasure.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with pretty much no head. Looks intense! The nose is...wow!! Crazy intense toffee. Dark/burnt toffee. And more toffee! Some chocolate and some malty notes come through, but this one is truly a toffee bomb. The taste is toffee, tobacco, chocolate, maple syrup, dark German bread, a touch of smoke, and Kahlua. Not quite as good as expected from the nose, but this is fantastic in small doses. I can't imagine drinking an entire can - this was shared among three of us. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Overall, a great sweet stout if you love toffee!
