Powerful beer with an excellent sweet-sour balance.

A - Hazy straw / gold color with a huge bubbly head. Leaves splotches of lacing all over the sides of the glass as it vanishes.

S - Pear, apple, floral notes. A strong vinous character. Smells like a white pear wine. Nice, but nothing fantastic. Abv is undetectable. As temperature rises, smell becomes even more vinous, almost musty.

T - A stong pear, slight dates and apples, like a faint granny smith tartness. I find absolutely no negative attribute to this taste. It could be better, but it is very well done as it is. It is very lightly sweet upfront and then it fades off into a mild wine bitter flavor. Again abv is masked. Flavor becomes slightly sweeter and fuller as it warms. But definitely good at a wide range.

M - Thin and a little astringent, but it is very refreshing apart from that.

D - Would match up with fish or poultry beautifully. Wouldn't work as a session beer, and at the price, you'd be foolish to use it as such. All things considered, a very good tripel. I would have again, if the price weren't so steep.

Having read some previous reviews I was slightly apprehensive, but I was pleasantly surprised. Warming of alcohol for sure but quite subtle. Full, substantial feel, hazy golden colour. Overall full, hearty and comforting trippel. Dark horse!

Not really a triple, I think it's too sweet for the style.

Hazy yellow. Smells fresh and light. Tastes fresh, frisky and deep. Perfectly balanced. Bitter alcohol aftertaste. Frisky on the tongue, but drinks smooth.

Bottle conditioned. Pours straw in colour with a quite thick dense head.
Yeasty aroma. Some spice, light banana and apple orchard. Rustic bouquet with distant pig farm.
The flavour reflects a muted version of the smell. The hops are revealed. A mild tart completion.
A bright feel. Quite light.
Middle of the road tripel.

Look: straw yellow with a big fluffy white head

Smell: a little yeast, a hint of malt, but like their dubbel not much is going on here

Taste: definitely better than the smell. Decent malt, some citrus, a bit floral

Feel: smooth, nice and light

The photo here is wrong/outdated. The label now is golden yellow, with the usual heron shield and highlighting "Triple - Tripel".

Served at 4°. Big head fastly receding. Pale hazy gold. 3 mm lacing disappearing in 10 mins. Highly carb with micro bubbles.

Smells like fresh grass, cannabis, hops mainly.

Tastes neutral: neither bitter nor sweet. Maybe a little sour. Hops, freshness, agrumes. Didn't feel the abv. Drinkable, yet someway complex.

Light to medium bodied. Good beer but not my style: too hoppy, no sweetness, no warmth.

Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Pale amber, very slightly hazy, pours with a 2Cm pillowy fine-bubble head. - ps @+10mins, holds well, forms thick lacing on the way down.
S- Subtle, smells 'dry' with perhaps timber/leather notes.
T- Bright, almost a touch sharp, but against a meaty feel. It has very full malts and again I get something like aromatic/timber notes here. I think there are Belgian ester notes here, but they're not the usual fruit-like ones.
F- This is a punchy beer (ABV%), but it's also notably bright (hops) while having a meaty body. Call that good balancing. ABV% has to be 8%+.
O- Clever, it's notably punchy/solid yet the hops are bright and prominent so it has balance. The hop notes seem trad but seem more timber-like than fruit-like to me (I've had this before with other beers!). It's a slow-sipping beer to me, it's too good to rush and pretty full-on to rush too. Very nice, I'd happily drink this one again.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed! First up, the lable has changed from^, it's now mostly simple plain gold with a pic of a white bird standing in an arched window plus the brewers name 'Bornem' in large font. Bottle conditioned. 'You enjoy a full, hoppy flavour, an excellent bitter-sweet balance, and a refined head'. And I've always been a fan of the latter especially...
330ml bottle BB: 12/01/2023 Euro2.50 Bought from BeerMania/Belgium as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London. #1848.
