Piraat triple hop is a balanced, complex brew with defined hop character. Brouwerij Van Steenberge uses the famous Piraat ale as the base providing the brew with a full-bodied fruity flavor from the malt blended with dry characteristics derived from the high levels of alcohol. Then, four different hops are added into the brew three times during the brewing process (hence triple hop).
The hops pitched are saaz, tetra and aurora twice in the brew house and then cascade is used to dry hop. These four hop styles deliver a complex character, which stands up to the great name of Piraat.

Sweet IPA, malty, not bitter at all. Milder carbonation, soft if slightly sickly feel. Taste is unquestionably Belgian although molasses are almost overpowering. Definitely a slow burner, not a sessionable brew though!

330ML bottle, birthdate unknown, poured into a Teku glass at 42 degrees F:
L - dark and malty with an off white head that lingered
S - biscuit, malt
T - malty and hoppy, very nice; I'm guessing Belgian yeast is not used as this doesn't have that classic Belgian flavor (Coriander, Banana)
F - medium mouthfeel and carbonation, good feel for an IPA
O - very good, there are floaters, but they are settling nicely on the bottom. I'm guessing this beer is at least 2-3 years old and it still rocks

Bottle conditioned. Light copper colour with a thin dense head.
Slightly rustic aroma of hops and yeast .
A candied sweetness at the front followed by a mixed flavour of esters (pear drops) and autumn fruits. The hops providing a nice bitter bite but any flavour is somewhat lost. . Spice present.
Soft carbonation. Medium high in body. A non aggressive but boozy feel.
Complex. A Belgium beer alright.

Look: nice golden color with a small white head
Smell: really nice floral hop notes with some good malt as well
Taste: hop profile of an IPA but with the maltiness of a good Belgian strong ale
Feel: small prickly bubbles

Served at 8°C. Very dark opaque blonde. Foam fastly receding. Carbonation almost absent.
Hoppy smell, grass and lemon. Yeast and alcohol.
Taste delicate: hops, citruses, smooth with a hint of bitterness. Abv - surprisingly - not overwhelming.
Medium to thick body.
Not my type of beer but a complex well brewed one for sure.
