16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 12/13/21, had 4/22/22.

Pours near black and opaque, oily looking, with a half inch quickly dissipating head and some oily cling. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, light bourbon, some oak and char. Flavors of bourbon, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, malt, light oak. Smooth, a little creamy, a solid full body, appropriately carbonated.

Strong, delicious barrels, add- ins all show well without being over the top. Solid from top to bottom.

Thanks to my Tavour addiction (like I needed another) for this 16 oz. can. I feel I have not sampled enough Masthead to date, based on, well, stuff.

The pour is black with a wafer-thin swirling universe of tiny bubbles atop the liquid & a nose that begs one to skip the silly inhaling with the nostrils & use the mouth-hole instead.

Tiramisu Universe – Bourbon Barrel Aged is just what I was seeking tonight: a big, lashing stout with plenty of barrel in a bigger container. Bourbon is up front & in yo face, both in the taste & the warm, welcoming feeling emanating from my chest. The additives are variously intense. Vanilla most so, with only a whiff of cocoa & the coffee a distant afterthought I might not have been able to distinguish from roast in the malt. Touch of black licorice (the good kind) & more booze on the finish. Full & creamy; its milk stout lineage is very apparent. Could have used a 500ML bottle. Or more.

This would make a stellar addition to morning coffee. It certainly makes for an excellent beer. More Masthead, please.

Appearance: Pours double fudge brown capped by ecru foam; leggy, with dots of lacing

Smell: Milk chocolate, coffee, brown sugar, vanilla and Bourbon; smells of Ladyfingers, too

Taste: Vanilla, Ladyfingers dipped in milk chocolate with coffee tones building; the Bourbon arrives with the swallow and the finish is sweetened by brown sugar

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation; warmth in the gullet

Overall: Masthead does a pretty good job with its Tiramisu though the sweetness limits the drinkability and I could not finish the whole can

Thanks, N-Gogol, for the opportunity

Underverse is an excellent base for all sorts of wonderful permutations. This one is one of the sweetest.

It's black and thick with just a bit of fizz. The aroma is expectedly sweet smelling. The taste initially is very much like the namesake, but as you keep drinking it becomes the norm - stout. The aftertaste would be boozy but it is so sweet, that takes over. The barrel aging taste deepens the sweetness. Nice.

Recommended, but a very poor value. Other Underverse variations are just as valid.

Canned on 12/28/17. 16oz can poured into a tulip. Pours black with a small dark khaki head that falls leaving nice retention and lacing. The aromas have nice balance between the bourbon, chocolate and vanilla. Hints of caramel as well. The coffee aromas are pretty mild and subtle. Lots of malts. The aromas aren't super intense, but it still smells really nice. The flavors basically follow the nose. It's on the sweeter side, but it's not cloying or over the top. More chocolate and vanilla leading the way. The bourbon blends well with everything and doesn't dominate. The coffee is on the mild side, but is noticeable. Some chocolate syrup in the finish. Strong malt backbone. Alcohol is well hidden. Mouthfeel is nice. It's full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's very smooth and dangerously drinkable.

This is a nice barrel-aged milk stout. It's not a crazy intense experience, but everything works. Balance is the key with this one, but it's still pretty bold. The craftsmanship is on point. It's enjoyable and fun to drink.
