We threw brewing science to the curb with this beer and added an unbelievably stupid amount of hops at every step of the process. Logic and reason need not apply. Just stop reading this, believe us that it's good, and drink it already.

This was a unexpectedly very solid England style IPA. Reminded me of some of the Massachusetts or Maine breweries. 6/4/20 date printed on can. Pours a very nice hazy pale yellow color with lots of fluffy white head that settled into small rings of lingering lacing that persisted throughout. Big aromas of crisp ripe grapefruit, mango, passionfruit, papaya, orange, lemon and some guava. Also some vanilla, malt, bread and weaker floral hops. Taste follows the nose, extremely good balance and depth. Very juicy and flavorful. Smooth, slightly sticky soft mouthfeel with excellent carbonation retention. An excellent beer, and I will definitely have to try more from this brewery.

16 oz can from Tavour. Hazy golden pour, murky. Small foamy head. Fruity aroma, tropical, then citrus. Taste continues the tropical punch vibe, a few floral notes, but there is a well defined hoppy edge to this, going right through the middle of this. Nice weight and feel, lingering bite.

Cloudy, peach-yellolw body; thick and frothy white head; sticky globs of foam cling to the glass. Peach and pineapple aroma; light sugar smell. Strong white grapefruit taste with tangerine and pine resin; doughy, biscuit-like malt base noted; a bit astringent and bitter; a little boozy. Heavy body; coarse and biting on the palate; some residual sugar heft; somewhat sweet yet finishes dry.

This beer was canned on 01/15/20, so nearly two months old. Perhaps that is why I don't get the wow factor that other reviewers have noted. This is not to say it's a bad beer, but it appears to have degraded into a standard NEIPA old citrus kind of thing. Well, perhaps I'll get a chance for a fresher version down the road.

16oz can served in a large snifter. Canned on 1/15/20.

Pours hazy with a medium sized head and plenty of carbonation. Smell is bright and tropical.

Taste is some tropical juice and a lot of bitter on the finish.

Mouthfeel is dry and light. Resinous. Overall, very nice.

L: radiant orange-tangerine, unfiltered with a head of stark white froth, fading to a thin cap and leaving behind an interesting distribution of tiny freckles of lace.

S: Resinous pine and intense orange and lime citrus. Some biscuity malt.

T: Follows the nose closely, with intense bitterness and dankness also.

F: Every bit the 8 percenter. Moderately heavy, syrupy and finishing really dry and bitter.

O: Pretty good. I might wish the finish a touch less dry is all.

Kind of muddled tannish-yellow with a short fuzzy off-white head settling to a thin collar.

The frothy full body features passion fruit and mango rind characteristics with a hot ABV cutting down some notes of Smarties and light cannabic dankness. The finish is chalk dry af, otherwise this would have a heavenly feel to it.

The 2020 batch is a little sharper and more astringently bitter, with a lighter yellow-gold body that's only partly hazy, and also lighter on the palate. It still has that boozy hear that you don't normally expect out of an 8% ABV NE IPA, so overall I'm dinging it.

Looks juicy but not chunky, a little head retention and some spotty lacing.
Smell is pine, herbs, lime
Taste is WOW. I mean really. Bitter, bright, prickly, a touch of sweet.
Feel perfect
Overall I am extremely impressed. I am at OH right know drinking this and it rivals everything else on the board.

This. Is. The. Best. Beer. Ever. Seriously. Rivals anything I’ve had from Treehouse or the Alchemist. Do yourself a favor and find this beer. It lives up to the hype and so much more!

Had this the first go around at a friends house after missing the release. Really enjoyed it then and refused to miss it the second time around. So glad I didn’t. Absolutely stellar. Top two beers I’ve ever had. Maybe the best. Looking forward to enjoying my cans and thinking about that.

Appearance: Pours very cloudy honey/orange color with a bubble show building the head to two fingers; splotchy lacing

Smell: Mango, passion fruit, grapefruit and orange tones

Taste: Mango and passion fruit forward, with grapefruit and orange flavors building citrusy bitterness; after the swallow; juicy and bright, in the finish, with modest bitterness lingering

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body; somewhat creamy, with moderate carbonation

Overall: Another top notch IPA from Masthead; look forward to visiting this brewery one day

Thanks, N-Gogol, for the opportunity

16oz can from 1st anniversary release, 1/27/2018.

Obligatory thick, viscous, yellow-orange, opaque elixir. Vigorous pour into DFH chalice yields a white, foam head which quickly recedes to a thin rim. Thick lacing across all quadrants of the chalice.

This is my jam: huge tropical fruit, like putting mango, kiwi, bananas, grape fruit and oranges into a blender and serving.

Yeah, this hits. So numbers have fought the NEIPA, but the style is fact. Hate on the color, clarity, new brewers breaking into the scene, but you can't dispute taste. And this brew has it in spades. Tropical hops, smooth bitterness, no alcohol bite and the freshness of those ripe fruits that frequent and copious hopping creates.

Smooth, alcohol absent, tangy, fresh, dry finish.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery: but this brew is in my backyard. Many have tried and NE breweries are on it, but Masthead has caught up quicktime. Salute!
