750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2018 vintage bottling. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy reddish orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and foamy light pink head with solid retention, that reduces to a minimal spotty lace cap that lingers. Minimal lacing, some clinging bubbles on the glass, and a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/sour/tart/tangy cherry, raspberry, strawberry, fruit skin/seed/pits, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, vanilla, wheat, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of cherry/berries, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, vanilla, oak, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/sour/tart/tangy cherry, raspberry, strawberry, fruit skin/seed/pits, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, vanilla, wheat, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and light yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour cherry, raspberry, strawberry, fruit skin/seed/pits, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, vanilla, wheat, white bread, peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of cherry/berries, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, vanilla, oak, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness and tangy fruit balance; with no puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is a fantastic fruited sour/wild ale! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of cherry/berries, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, vanilla, oak, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp to drink, with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Amazing balance of jammy cherry/berries, vanilla, and Brett/Bacteria complexity; with great oak foeder presence, and pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example as expected.
