The aroma is very hoppy with notes of straw and hints of spices. The flavor is sweet spicy and slightly malty and hoppy. Quite average and nothing special as the label implies. Seemed flat when poured and slightly cloudy as compared to a pils. Heavy alcohol overtones in the aftertaste.

A kind gift from my German flatmate, who brought this bottle along with 5 others all the way from hometown Stuttgart. Packaged in 500ml brown bottle, filtered and possibly pasteurised (judging from the BBE date: 12/07/2007), served chilled in a pint-sized weizen glass.

A: pale golden in colour; nice foamy white head sustains well, supported by streams of tiny and medium-sized bubbles.
S: the nose upfront shows equivalent inputs from malts and hops, scattered with mild touches of doughs, soothingly sour fruitiness, and straw-ish hops. Balanced and approachable.
T: mildly toasty malts prevails upfront, but the malts are quickly engulfed in a liquidy bed of hops... mildly bitter and increasingly dry, with a lingering aftertaste of straw-ish hops until hitting the super-clean finish... I can't believe myself saying this, but, this beer really doesn't need to be complex to qualify as utterly enjoyable--a "cool" beer as it is already speaks for itself...
M&D: crisp and clean on the mouthfeel, refreshingly carbonated, medium-bodied for a 5.7%abv. lager... the balance is well-crafted, and the amount of hop bitterness makes it more successful than most of its counterparts (that I've tasted). Can't pinpoint which style it purports to be, I go for Dormunder here for its weight and hop characters. All in all, this is a nice X'mas present from my lovely German flatmate to carry me through 2500 points on BA!
