Style: American Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
It’s never too early for a beer – that’s why we’ve brewed a breakfast stout. Oatmeal is an important part of a balanced breakfast, so we sourced some oats from the family – owned Irish company Flavahan’s. And since we just can’t live without coffee, we found a deep, dark delicious one and added it to our brew. The result is a black, intensely coffee flavored stout that is too good to limit to any one time of day-we’re drinking it ‘round the clock’ no matter which way the clock is going ‘round’.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a dense two finger high beige colored head that took a long time to settle down, eventually leaving a short head covering the surface and lots of specks of bubbles clinging to the edges of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of coffee and dark roasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste is dominated by flavors of dark, roasted malts and has additional notes of coffee. The roasted flavors linger into the finish. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This stout is very roasty for a medium-bodied stout; the use of oatmeal seems to lighten up the body more than contribute smoothness to the mouthfeel.

This one pours a fairly dark black, with a surprisingly large foamy head, and a good bit of lacing.

This smells like ashy and burnt coffee, bitter roasted malt, and powdery chocolate.

This is incredibly thin tasting, unfortunately. It's mostly bitter coffee, with a watery middle and end to the sip. There's a bit of roasted malt, though, and a bit of chocolate from the coffee- but it kinda just tastes like used coffee grounds.

This is super thin, watery, and weak, with a normal level of carbonation.

This is surprisingly not all that great.

No canning date
Ok so apparently it has a widget and they screwed up something with the pressure, a geyser shot out of this thing, beer all over, I don't think infection but continued attenuation in the can.

Huge foamy bubbly head, a bit of lacing, very dark brown beer with yeast and protein chunks plopping out

Nose burnt cola, burnt caramel, toffee, mild acrid like roasted coffee beans, earthy char and caramel syrup

Taste more sought acrid roast, burnt coffee and burnt caramel, coffee syrup, caramel thing, little yeast and metallic, fair bitterness from the roast

Mouth is med bod bit syrupy a touch creamy, very little carb

Overall a mess and poorly executed all around.

440 ml can served cold into a Guinness glass. From Ireland to Canada via the US.

Appearance - Near black, massive light tan head and good retention. Excessively foamy.

Smell - Some coffee and hints of vanilla. Lots of metallic aroma in there too. A little offputting.

Taste - Plenty of freshly brewed coffee cold brew style. Middling to high bitterness. Robust flavors. Finishes with earthy hops and coffee.

Mouthfeel - A little bit thin, too fizzy and prickly astringency on the tongue is a little disconcerting otherwise. Medium body and slightly less creamy than expected.

Overall - A nice take on a coffee stout. Aroma and feel could use a little work but the flavors are there.

Pours jet black with a fluffy brown head.

Smell is coffee with earthy and roasted notes.

Taste is burnt break room coffee with an earthy finish.

Thin for a breakfast stout.

Middle of the road breakfast stout.
