look: 4.75 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4
Can dated 2/11:
Jet black, especially compared to the ever-present head. The bubbles atop are off-white, and produce a nice initial sheet of lace. After that, things are a bit more spotty. Nose and taste both have dark roast coffee notes, with a bitter astringent note that is stronger on the palate. So coffee, burnt toast, and charred bitterness on the nose, and more char on the taste, then a mix of burnt toast and coffee. The dry nature of the beer is present throughout, especially in the finish, which also has that astringency linger just a tad. A fairly bold roast bitterness that definitely sticks with the "dry" part of Irish dry stout.

Look- midnight black with quarter inch tan head
Smell- roasted malts at first finishes with a coffee note
Taste- roasted malts with dark coffee
Feel- above average mouth feel
Overall- a great coffee malt stout with next to no chocolate to speak of.

From the growler, it pours a lovely black with a nice thick large brown head. It leaves lacing as you enjoy it. Roasted malts in the nose. Roasted malts in the mouth, with a decent stout flavor. Yum!
