The beer poured brown with a white head. The aroma was of malt. The taste was a weak slightly malty beer. The feel was light and dry. A dissapointing try at a mild. All of the mildness and none of the Þaste.it left me wishing I'd made another choice.

A couple of pints on cask at Triumph, New Hope.

Love the style, not particularly this version.

A: Auburn color with a thick head and some of the stickiest lacing Ive ever seen. Nice looking.

N: A bit of malt and a layer of caramel. Not too strong.

T: Some caramel, some dried fruit but reallyl have to seek it out to notice it.

M: Nice and smooth on the tongue, cask helps this one out Im sure. Gives it characher.

D: Not going to blow you away, surely sessionable but nothing to write home about.

Triumph- New Hope

Mild Ale

Appearance- dark mahogany brown with a moderate lacing head.
Smell- dull, bland, faint cocoa powder and light brown sugary malt.
Taste- Light brown sugar and molasses malt. Smooth and mild.
Mouthfeel- Light, smooth, and low carnonation.

Overall- Slightly boring but decent session beer.

Handpulled pint from Triumph's New Hope, PA brewpub. Clear, deep mahogany with garnet highlights and a dense, creamy, yellowed-newsprint head, about 1/2" thick. The nose is toasty and doughy, like bread rising in a warm oven. The taste is predominantly malty at first, with a delicious yeasty bread flavor. Then, in the middle, a difficult to place fruit flavor emerges, full and round -- I've settled on somewhere between lychee and kiwi, but less "tropical" tasting and more phenolic. The mouthfeel is, of course, perfectly creamy and smooth, as this is a cask-conditioned beer, with a medium-thin body that is nonetheless substantial and satisfying enough for the style. Incredibly thick sheets of lacing are left on the sides of the glass. Low abv (3.6%) and full flavor results in a beautifully drinkable beer. Outstanding mild.
