Pours an orange tinges light brown color. Thick frothy white head collapses in on itself leaving a thin layer of white foam on top of the beer. Almost completely clear.

Aroma has notes of malts, bread, sweet bread, and a light touch of spicy hops on the back end.

Taste follows the nose - lots of malts - bread, grain, touch of sweetness, and some earthy bitterness from the hops. Lots of grains come through as the beer warms.

Feel is light, drinkable. Moderate carbonation.

Overall a very nice Oktoberfest beer and one of the better American options out there. I'd be happy to have this one again.

I tried this at The Hilton in downtown Minneapolis whilst in town for a work conference. The beer poured a clear amber and had thin white head that did not leave any lacing. The scent had malt notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with malt base and slight bitter finish. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer.

Brilliant burn orange color...

Big toasted malt aroma and flavor....very enjoyable taste....clean and crisp yet loaded with toasty maltiness....a slight thin impression in body which is not a bad thing for this style..

One of the top MN brewed Oktoberfests I've had this year. Right in the same group as Bauhaus and Beaver Island.

Look: dark gold, small head, little lacing. Aroma: toast, salted caramel, a bit of grass. Taste: toast and caramel. Finish: short and clean. Mouthfeel: medium-light bodied, lively carbonation. Comments: this beer is on the extreme light end of the festbier style.

Canned 07/20/18

Clear amber color that is a bit lighter in tone then marzens but seems dark for the festbier style. A small head forms and quickly dissipates. No lacing is left behind. Very muted aroma. I pick up some herbal and biscuits. Possibly some caramel as well. The flavor is not what I expected. Has a weird grape flavor that seems like a flaw. The beginning is fine with nice biscuit and lightly toasted bread. Some herbal bitterness for balance. Nice carbonation and a body that fits drinking this in mass quantities. The ABV is just below 6%. A little letdown by Utepils efforts on this one. It is drinkable but there are many better Oktoberfest beers available.

It's a light marzen with less body than you would expect but still really solid. Easy drinking beer.

L: pours brilliant gold under a 1/2" cream colored foam cap with fair retention and a vey fine bead.

S: smells of rich malt, bread crumb, bread crust, a hint of hop spice and faint light fruit

T: has a rich malt flavor up front with bread crumb and bread crust, and light fruit in the middle with a hint of banana bread and a trace of apple. It is mildly sweet with a very mild bitterness on the finish

F: The body is medium light and the carbonation is medium

O: decent, refreshing and drinkable beer but could use a little more malt, a little more hop and a little less fruit

Bready aroma, slightly spicy, slightly sweet. Amber-gold, clear color with a 1/2 inch thick off-white head that fades quickly to a thin cap, leaving thick lacing. Moderately thick feel, kind of flat-ish. Mild herbal taste, with bready malt behind. Bitter in the finish. This is supposedly the lighter style of Oktoberfestbier, but it is more a 'tweener. Darker than the light German Oktoberfestbiers, not as dark as the German (or American) Märzen style. More malt in the taste than the light, not as malty as the Märzen, with a bitter finish that is a bit too much for the style. Nonetheless, it is (as expected from Utepils) very well done.

Apparently this is a one-off but why these guys wouldn't have a dependable seasonal, I don't know. If they did, this would be a good candidate. Clean bright flavors and feel in a really inviting and festive setting at the brewery. Most people are drinking big mugs but mine is in a willibecher.

Poured from 16oz can into glass. Bottom of can is stamped 'CANNED ON 07/23/18 10:17:11'.
Clear, deep gold colored body. Two finger white head stays around as thick cap and ring. Leaves behind lots of lacing webbing.
Expressive aroma of roasted malt and biscuit.
Taste is sweet biscuit and grassy. No bitterness. The background taste reminds me of grape
Medium to full mouth feel. Good carbonation.
Lighter in color and more subtle in toasty malt flavor than other fest beers. Still has good malt flavor that would lead to several in a session of drinking.

Light head that dissipates quickly - some carbonation but not excessive. Tastes of lightly toasted biscuit with a grape? finish, may have become my favorite seasonal beer.
