Growler consumed on same day from brewery. A recent release. Poured into a tulip glass.

A: Very cloudy amber/copper; 1” ivory head that drops quickly and leaves very little lacing; occasional effervescence.

S: Prominent sweet floral & fruity aroma – very distinct and pleasant.

T: Sweet and malty, followed by moderate, but assertive bitterness that lingers; alcohol is not a factor.

M: Light/medium carbonation and medium body; little heat; dry finish.

O: Very well balanced, quite easy to drink; unique in my experience -- differs from other American IPAs I’ve tried.

Murrayswine picked up a couple growlers from Silver Creek last night and we're cracking them open.

This IPA is a ridiculously deep color, all tawny and shit. Looks like a brown ale, and smells and tastes like one too, extremely nutty and chocolatey. Definitely some roasted malts in here. There's a moderate amount of hoppiness, reminding me of hoppy brown ales like Brooklyn Brown or Duck Rabbit Brown. This beer is very interesting, and quite delicious, but not exactly an IPA.

On tap at the Silver Creek Brew Pub.

Poured a deep and cloudy amber (almost brown) color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel and light pine and citrus. Tastes of pretty much the same. I too just noticed the description that this was Oak Aged. There was some light wood in there, but not enough that I would have guessed this. This one was nicely balanced and not over board bitter. Nice full body.

Just a correction. Although you will get a subtle taste of wood this beer is not barrel aged in anyway. That must have been a misprint somewhere. This is one of my favorite brews, its more that a british IPA than an american. Very mellow yet very nice hop characteristics. great nose, A new batch was recently released and its the best i have ever had

enjoy

Found this beer at Silver Creek, a local brewpub.
The color is darker than a typical IPA, with softer red/brown notes. The smell is rich with fragrant hops. For an American IPA, it really smells more Euro styled with less tart and more bitters. It has a subtle nut tone as well. The first taste is heavy hops, walnut, and slight bitter lemon, over all a damn fine beer, that's highly drinkable....If you can get the damn thing.
