Damn, this has really creamy hazelnut and chocolate wafer character, with a super smooth, thick body up front. A tangy, sharply somewhat astringent booze is dampened a little by the fluffy carbonation before the semi-dry finish. It also seems to get thicker as it warms. This might be a hazelnut coffee lover's delight, especially if one like's their drinks a bit more assertive. I'm a bit conflicted because the feel has its ups and downs, but the taste is there.

2018 vintage; drank 3/23/19 @ the Palace.

Motor oil black appearance.

A violent pour yielded a small dark tan head; minimal lace.

Medium roast coffee bean & hazelnut notes in the nose.

Smooth medium thick mouthfeel.

Medium roast coffee bean & hazelnut flavors up front; milk chocolate notes on the finish. No booze heat.

A dessert treat; not mind-blowing, but well above average.

Poured black with a brown head on top. The smells has a nice amount of hazelnut along with the flavor. The taste also has a nice chocolate finish. The feel with smooth and creamy. Overall it was an excellent beer!!

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head and not much lacing.

This smells like fluffy and sweet hazelnut, creamy vanilla, rich coffee, and chocolate fudge.

This is definitely decadent and excellent. It feels like there’s more hazelnut than coffee- it’s sticky, full and sweet and sweet in that flavor, with a nice toastiness to it. There’s lot to fudgy chocolate too, and a nice subtle roasty coffee flavor as well. I expected more coffee boldness since it was a pretty hype-y type of coffee, but I guess it doesn’t matter as the whole package tastes great.

This is medium bodied and super creamy, with a nice richness to it. It’s nicely drinkable.

This is my first Horus stout- I definitely need to get my hands on more.

Very nice stout...get lots of coffee upfront with a big nut-kick (that's a burst of nutty flavor, not a kick in the nuts) at the back end.... Nice body for a non-BA stout, and best of all, a little sweet but not cloyingly so like lots of stouts.... Good Balance!

Excellent beer, thicccc and swarming on the palate hazelnuts on display with a smooth coffee to round out the never ending rounds of chocolate. One of the thickest beers I've ever had the pleasure of tasting this is a top 5 non barrel aged beer for me, seek this out

That smell... ooooh that smell!
Remember that dream you had where you were trapped inside a giant burning hazelnut, and the only way out was dousing it with freshly roasted coffee.
I have not and likely will not smell a better beer in my days.

Mouthfeel and taste fully compliment this with a roasty, toasty, flavor party.
Get that sweet stuff out of here... this beer filled my dreams, not my dessert plate.
Like the Egyptian God this brewery is named after, we’ll be talking about this beer for the next five thousand years!

Really nice complexity. The hazelnut and chocolate base stout work well in harmony, and the coffee isn't overpowering. Nice milk chocolate and hazelnut. This is the beginnings of a nice barrel-aged pastry stout, as the body is full bodied and creamy- a little room to dry out a little bit. Not too sweet or boozy. Good carbonation. Look forward to trying the barrel-aged version, although not looking forward to paying the price to do so.

Time to see if all the rave reviews hold weight...

Slick, oily black pour, with a tan head of foam and heavy lace. Great so far... too soon?

Dude.. this nose is so subtly incredible, not using overly sweet and potent qualities, but instead sticking with quality and simplicity. It starts almost milky, with tons of hazelnuts taking over my nostril’s full attention. Hints of roast give it that edge, but damn it’s just so nutty!

Just as the nose fell off, the flavors took over. Continuing with those roasty notes, the nuttiness quickly finds its way back to the forefront. Compliments of rich fudge follow with a strong punch, along with flavors of caramelized sugar and sweet breadiness. It literally has everything you’d want. True balance, with nothing becoming overly prevalent, and finishing with a slightly bitter, roasty tail.

Goshawk has a medium body. Sticky, with an even, effervescent carb, and an incredibly smooth finish. Warm as it goes down.

Crazy good. Thick and viscous, smells of vanilla ice cream in a waffle cone. Hazelnut and chickory coffee, sweet on the palate, but not overly so. Finishes super smooth, and sticky on the lips. Outstanding beer.

Drank on pickup day out of a Crooked Stave snifter. The nose is a bit muted compared to what I was expecting, with coffee, caramel, and sugar free chocolate fudge. Palate is not muted at all: loads of hazelnut, chocolate fudge, caramel, and vanilla. Wow. Roasty coffee flavor is very present but also very well integrated; the coffee also lingers long after the swallow. Rich and viscous mouthfeel; highly decadent but with only moderate sweetness. I'm a hard sell on non-BA stouts, but am very happy with this buy even at the price point; one of the best non-BA stouts I've had in fact. I suspect that this is already at its best, so drink fresh.
