If you haven't tried the unique beers from Springdale, by all means go find some. This is beer on a very high level indeed. Far from the hazy IPAs that are now all the rage throughout New England (although you can find then here if you desire), these are sophisticated creations, brimming with hops, malt, wood and citrus. These are extraordinary beers and you owe it you yourself to sample them. Bravo.

Medium-gold color and faintly hazy with a coupla fingers of white head... Aromas of floral and dank citrus intermingle, followed by a blend of pine, dark citrus rind, marmalade, melon, and eucalyptus on the sip... Moderate bitterness, mild sweetness, and modest carbonation; smooth feeling with just a little stickiness on the finish... Compelling flavor profile and finish... 10/1/18 canning...

Consumed 3/28/17

A: Medium orange with some tangerine around the edges - hazy but not turbid - pours with a small, off-white head, fades to a few wisps, retains a small collar and leaves a few streaks of lacing

S: Bright citrus, with some orange juice, candied tangerine, and grapefruit zest - resinous, herbaceous hop pellets - tropical candy, fleshy and juicy mango, pineapple, passion fruit - light malty sweetness - pale malts and cereal at the base

T: Bright and juicy, yet not overtly over-the-top - orange juice, tangerine slices, touch of grapefruit - lightly dank and resinous, woodsy - touch of spice - tropical fruit candy - tasting notes include "Tropical Starburst" and I agree - lightly sweet pineapple and melon - non-distinct but decidedly tropical flavors - lightly earthy at the base, some pale malts, probably some oat or raw wheat here

M: Medium body, smooth, finish is mostly crisp but leaves some lingering spice

O: Changing the topic

The Springdale beers often taste like an experiment. To an extent, that always keeps them exciting. So Anyway... is very nice, but I don't know if I could a drink a lot of these. Maybe I just need time to get used to the interesting hop varieties.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that has good retention properties and consistently left a short head covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of stone fruit are present in the nose along with hints of tangerines.
T: The taste has flavors of stone fruit and tangerine citrus with faint hints of grapefruit. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied and a little juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This New England IPA isn't nearly as fruity and juicy compared to others in the style but it does a good job at exhibiting aromas and flavors of stone fruit.

Canned 3/08/17, neat name, surprised nobody has done it yet.

Pours a decent fizzy slight foamy 1/2 finger head that fades at a med pace, a little lacing, very hazy murky bright orange tangerine color.

Nose some citrus, tangerine, a little clementine and orange zest, melon rind, a hint of a lemony almost eucalyptus citrus, green underripe mango skin and papaya, some pineapple too, a touch of a spicy piney hop in the background, and faint creamy oat or malt base.

Taste brings a creamy malt base, flaked wheat I think, perhaps oats, a little toasty too, but plenty of hops, a big citrus and a little pine, earthy pine notes, a hop oil eucalyptus thing again interestingly, with some mild dankness and resin, orange peel, tangerine flash, a little pith, some pineapple notes, blood orange, an interesting berry thing almost like a Marionberry thing going on, flashes of underripe mango skin again, and that fleshy seed-like part of the middle of the papaya. Finishing a little effervescent hop oil with more citrus, underripe tropical notes, more pine and resin notes, a little fleshy and creamy toasted malt note, fairly dry finish, fair bitterness throughout.

Mouth is med bod, a little creamy, decent carb but I think could have used a bit more.

Overall not bad, interesting unique combination of hop characters, nice malt base, the tropical and citrus notes were nice although again very unique, the pine resin I could have gone without but that's just my opinion, and the hop oil eucalyptus was really interesting. I'd def get it again, but it's not anywhere near the top of the food chain when it comes to NEIPAs.

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Kappy's in Norwell for about fourteen dollars. Have had a couple of brews from these guys before. Not a big fan of this, something just off with the taste.

Orange, creamsicle, melon, tangerine and pine. Cracker malt profile. Lighter bodied. Nicely balanced between the sweetness and bitterness. Flavorful yet easy drinking. Really solid.

Ample, rocky head. Good chunky, spotty lace. Darker gold color with a definitive cloud.

The initial smell is appealing with a fresh balanced combination of lighter malt and floral hop. Subsequent smells turn darker with earthy tones and alcohol coming forward. The first part I like; the second part, not so much.

The flavor starts off unusual. It's creamy, lightly sour, with an overtone of malt ball sweetness. Blindfolded, I would expect the beer to be far darker, maybe even a brown ale. It then morphs into a more traditional IPA with the lighter malt and a bouquet of hop bitterness. Rich bodied with an elevated carbonation. Overall, I like the complexity and the unusual flavors.

-orange-amber can pour with a deep haze and a 1 cm foam cap. The aroma is light and tropical. The flavors include orange and resin with moderate hop bitterness. The finish is somewhat dry.

Golden and slightly orange. Thin effervescence and not clear but not hazy body. Lots of sweetness here on the nose - more of a pronounced caramel malt compared to other late hop forward ipas. It drinks very well - nice interplay between citrusy and slighty doughy sweetness without being cloying somehow. Probably hard to have more than one - doesn’t quite have a clean crisp or dry finish.

Drinkable and tasty. I had a pour at the JA taproom and a can purchased afterwards. This brewery is a welcome contribution to the New England beer scene and these beers are well-fitted to the style. It's got all those attributes people rave about- hazy, juicy, clean finish, delicious. That last one seals it for me- this is a great beer by a really great sister brewery of a brewery.
