This is a tough one because they deliberately brewed an IPA which is totally different from anything out there. So if I were to rate it based on traditional IPA standards, I'd give it a very low rating. But that's the point. It's like nothing else.

On draft at Jack's Abby Beer Hall. Some slight fruity hop nose. The color? Wow, it's VERY light, even more so than, say, a bud light. It's fizzy like soda, and with no head. It's not hazy, but it's not totally clear either. Body is light for 6.5% ABV. Bitterness is right on target for an IPA. Mouth feel is fizzy and light.

Overall, I am impressed. I'd like to learn more about how they brewed this, and what malt was used to get such a light color.

They did a terrific job pushing the envelope. I am at a loss, however, to define a beer style. It's a new one. I was impressed enough to buy two four packs from their cooler.

A: The beer is nearly crystal clear and only has a faint bits of lemon cream hues with a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with only a minuscule ring of white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of blueberries and grapefruit are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the grapefruit flavors are a bit stronger, but these are more like grapefruit zest than grapefruit flesh. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No crispness is perceptible.
O: Notwithstanding the lack of a head, the appearance of this beer is strikingly fascinating as it is nearly translucent and looks like someone just squeezed a couple of drops of lemon juice into a glass of water (even more watered down than a light lager) but it packs in a nice dose of aromas and flavors from the hops. It is very easy to drink.

Tap at Jack's Abby
Light fizzy head, pale clear slightly hazy color, no color

Nose grassy floral lemony, little generic green fruit,

Taste no malt, lemony mild citrus green fruit, bit grassy floral, little dank, mild bitterness

Mouth is lighter bod, decent carb

Overall an interesting unique beer but not great for the reasons you'd expect

Well, this is an interesting idea. I'm not sure it's a really GOOD idea, but as with all art, the forward-thinking ideas are definitely risks to be undertaken. This is supposed to be a New England "hazy, juicy IPA" style beer but without any of the haze. If I had to guess, this beer was brewed with rice or something and heavily centrifuged prior to kegging/packaging, but I'm not a packaging professional so I don't really know how this was done. All I know it that it's... silly.

The pour here is about 2-3 SRM using the traditional beer color guide, but there is a slight haze to it that makes it not-completely-clear. There's a bit of a fizzy, soda-like head that fades away to literally nothing after about five minutes in my glass. There's a decent amount of carbonation rising rather slowly from the bottom of the glass here, but I guess the only reason I'm commenting on it is because I can actually see it... this looks rather odd. Like, I don't think it's a great-looking beer, but I also am not of the mind that appearance matters when it comes to this style, as I've had some great juicy IPAs that weren't totally turbid anyway... that leads us to the next part of this review!

The nose here seems rather heavy on the scallion/spring onion side of things with a backing note of anonymous tropical fruit. I'm serious... I can't pick out what's going on here really. It's fairly generic smelling with a bit of grapefruit and a little lemon peel tartness. Interestingly, I pick up a little bit of dankness here but without the yeast backing, I lose a lot of the esters that typically make up the NE IPA style.

On the tongue, this has a soda-like effervescence with a bright and tangy citrus profile that dabbles in dankness lightly before collapsing into a semi-sweet finish. Light bitterness in the finish with some grapefruit, tangerine and blood orange notes here and there.

The feel is definitely lighter than the usual "NE IPA," but there's some viscosity due to the intense hopping rates. Carbonation is rather light compared to what I was expecting, with a semi-dry, almost white wine-like finish complete with minerality. This is... weird. I'm not sure I would ever really revisit it, but it's a cool proof of concept.

Pint can. Maybe the worst looking beer I've ever seen. Looks like hazy tap water that has had a lemon wedge squeezed into it, no head. Smell is like a lemony dishwashing liquid has had some drops put into this. Taste is an off flavor of lemon with some bitterness. Feel is unpleasant, watery but astringent. Well, the can bottom printing says Best by 6/26/18, (today), and Must Stay Cold (which I don't think it did). Overall, this was a great disappointment.

Look at that color. Pale straw. Fairly clear in appearance. Smells like a good IPA. Tastes like a watery IPA. Lemon, melon and kiwi. Tastes like a diet beer like how there is a difference in taste between diet soda and regular soda. Lower bitterness and sweetness. Drier finish. Hmmmm. I wish the flavors were ramped up a bit. Needs more flavor.

This beer has a nice aroma and decent flavor, but it is ugly as sin and completely lacks body and mouthfeel. Not sure the concept of a “clear” NEIPA is anything more than a failed experimental novelty

This is one strange beer. Clear light yellow look. Nose is light citrus, lemon, grass, floral. Taste is lemony citrus, not much hop note. High carbonation and light feel. Overall very interesting drink. I like it but it is definitely different.
