Received a 16 ounce can of Pithy from my Dad for Christmas 2017. Look and smell were excellent. Taste was above average, but the aftertaste was outstanding. The way it held on the palette was so wild because I expected it to consist with the taste but it was so much better. Oddly, even the 'burp' was tasty. I've never commented on a burp, but it was so tasty. A must drink IPA!

CANNED: 12/07/2017

Cloudy pale orange with a pure white head of sticky cream. Smooth, clean tropical fruit aroma: creamy mango, grapefruit zest, pineapple, and green grass. Juicy, creamy hop flavors - definitely going for the NEIPA thing. Mango, stone fruit, orange juice, and a light herbal/pine needle edge near the finish. Smooth, fluffy feel drinking easier than a full-strength IPA. A quality creamy/fruity IPA - Bhavana is quickly establishing itself as the best brewery in the Triangle.

A: Pours an extremely hazy/murky medium golden honey orange in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate amount of dark golden yellow + burnt orange colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense sudsy foamy white head that slowly reduces to a couple of medium sized patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy tropical/mango, tropical/pineapple, tropical/guava, citrus/grapefruit pith, and pine/resin hops over the top of pale malts + wheat malts + oats with minimal amounts of sweetness.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of pale malts + wheat malts + oats with minimal amounts of sweetness. That is followed by strong flavors of juicy tropical/mango, tropical/pineapple, tropical/guava, citrus/grapefruit pith, citrus/orange pith, and pine/resin hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away relatively quickly leaving a lingering pithy + pine hop presence.

M: Medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Initially crisp with a smooth, almost fluffy mid-body and hints of dryness in the finish.

O: Very enjoyable with "as-advertised" pithy hop flavors + aromas as well as lots of juicy NE IPA style hop presence as well. Really nice smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel and I could easily have a couple of these. Alcohol is well hidden and this drinks very easily.

Well, the name certainly fits.

Pithy pours a thoroughly cloudy golden-orange, with a full finger of head, and moderate retention and lacing. An interesting mix of white grapefruit, orange creamsicle, and pine forest on the nose. The palate opens with orange and grapefruit juice, quickly transitioning to an aggressively bitter mid-palate that introduces some guava. Carbonation combines with the bitter citrus notes to suggest a NEIPA version of one of those holiday punchbowls consisting of Sprite mixed with various sherbets. A cool combination of hopped-up intensity and creamy smoothness that distinguishes itself from other offerings in this space.

I'm a year and a half removed from The Triangle and a current resident of Western MA. This is by far the best New England style IPA I've had brewed outside of New England. They don't even market or brand it as a NE style IPA but you can tell it easily is. Nice haze, appealing smell and smooth taste. If you're hophead do yourself a favor and try this.

Appearance: Pours with an impressive bubble show and a three finger head that settles in above the cloudy orange liquid; excellent retention and lacing

Smell: Juicy, with mango, guava, orange and pineapple tones

Taste: Tropical fruit forward, with the pineapple, mango and guava making a stand; through the middle, the pithy orange and grapefruit add a citrusy bitterness; the finish is crisp and clean

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate to high carbonation

Overall: A first class effort that can hang with just about anybody
