One of Michigan's best Oktoberfest brews. I would say that it's got a good mix of caramel and bitter flavors. This is a great standard Marzen. It really holds true to the basic flavors you'd expect, with no surprises. That being said, that's also why it's a bit boring to me. It's a great beer, and really captures the traditional taste, but it's a little lack-luster. If you want a true and genuine Marzen Oktoberfest that's very predictable, this is for you!

Had on tap at the brewery, served in a wheat glass. Copper color, small head. Aroma of sweet malt. Taste is more of the same, a thick, sweetish chewy dark bread, with the noble hops making themselves present on the backend.

Appearance - 3.75/5
Pours a slightly clear perfect copper color. There was about 1 finger of head on initial pour, dissipates to almost nothing with in a minute. Visible carbonation is qutie sparse and rises up at an average rate.

Smell - 3.9/5
Sweet maltiness, some fruitiness (cherries and apples?) as well. Perhaps a little bit of breadiness. Overall the aroma is fairly nice. I would have liked the smell to be a bit stronger, because as it stands, the smell is quite subtle.

Taste - 4.1/5
Sweet maltiness, with an orange-citrus taste to it. Definitely has a fairly fruity taste to it, perhaps even a little tartness. Interesting for an Oktoberfest, but I like it. Perhaps a mild and subtle alcohol taste, which does not intrude on the rest of the beer. It's hard to define this beer, other than to say it seems like a slightly fruity version on a standard Oktoberfest.

Mouthfeel - 4.5/5
Medium to full bodied--much closer to the full bodied than the medium. Simultaneously crisp and creamy in a very unique way. The beer itself is thick and creamy, but the carbonation is fairly high intensity, and gives a bite/kick to the tongue, create a sensation found more in crisp beers. Overall, I really love the mouthfeel. This is one of the nicest mouthfeels I can remember in a beer.

Overall - 4.25/5
Overall, this was a great drinking experience. I was very happy with this beer, and it turned out to be a great Oktoberfest beer which stood out from other Oktoberfests, because of its unique flavor and unique mouthfeel. I definitely plan on drinking this again at some point in the future.

A little too tart for my taste, not my favorite Oktoberfest but one I wouldn't mind having from time to time.
