Midnight Snack - Coffee And DonutsMidnight Snack - Coffee And Donuts
Notes: Imperial stout brewed with flaked oats, midnight wheat, lactose and donuts! Than rested on a ridiculous amount of vanilla beans and locally roasted coffee.

16 oz can from Tavour. Pours black, little bit of head disappears. Aroma is all roast, coffee and dark chocolate. Taste brings milk sugar, light vanilla and other sugary flavors (that must be the donuts). Bitter up front, sweet at the back.

Pours black with a finger and a half of dark caramel colored foam. Aroma is roasty coffee, chocolate, cocoa nibs, vanilla bean and some cloyingly sweet sugar. A slightly bitter opening becomes cloyingly sweet at the finish. Flavor profile is chocolate, coffee, caramel, toffee and molasses with overcooked doughnuts and light vanilla beans in the background. Roasty and toasty malts break it up a bit. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a lightly chalky grain within the creamy texture. Overall, lots going on within this one, that would be a bit too sweet for some seeking a stout.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegalau tulip from a 16oz can.

A: Thick and oily pour, with almost chocolate milk highlights exit the bottle to produce a dense black offering. Not much head formation or sightings here, some dark tan-reddish tones are slight and scarce before succumbing to a near polished surface. The highlight was the thick and slurry nature that it showed exiting the can almost like motor oil.

S: Fresh and oil coffee roast fill the nose, along with some dry vanilla, marshmallow and chocolate malts. Sweet black plums add highlights, along with some silty campfire ash, and some smokey wood tones. Sweet caramelized raisins and figs, along with some chocolate and almost oreo cookie like hints. Milky rich, fresh warm doughnuts, and an earthy bitterness caps things off.

T: Again, a big oily roasty coffee flavor, filled with marshmallow, dry vanilla, and rich chocolate highlights. Although not as complex as the nose, it had some almonds, smokey malts, and silty roast bitterness that did not disappoint. Burnt bread and doughnuts, caramelized sweetness and silty smoothness.

M: Silty smooth texture, oily and full bodied. Miky coffee roast.

O: A well rounded, thick and rich dark milk stout, filled with coffee roast, smooth malt batter, but is very smooth. At 12.4% it is especially smooth and the alcohol does not interfere with the fine accents of the vanilla, and milky chocolate. A huge stout and perhaps a Halloween treat better suited for the cooler weather.

A- Tallboy into a whiskey glass with a pitch black body and a very, very dark cocoa cap that is basically black and charred itself. The head has a creamy and foamy texture and fairly good retention after peaking at a half inch high. Spotty lacing.

S- Chocolate and donuts and to a somewhat lesser extent some coffee. Bold cocoa leads things off with a blend of bitter dark chocolate, cocoa powder and some sweet milk chocolate hints. After the chocolate kicks in the donuts take over and you can really get the baked good notes in the aroma with that classic sweet, fresh donut aroma. A touch of dark roast coffee but it doesn't really shine through what seems like heavy sweetness and a dessert-esque flavor profile. Roast barley and malty aroma overall.

T- The grain becomes much more central to the beer on the taste buds as things shift towards a charred, roasted barley profile above all else with the chocolate notes also playing a big part alongside that. Bitter dark chocolate and espresso lead things off with toasted nuts, toffee, vanilla sweets, toast, caramel, charred grain, roast barley, chocolate malt and a fair bit of sweetness. A hint of donuts beyond the bitter and charred things and a touch of booze as well. Very much about the roast barley and chocolate.

MF- Heavy body that is slick and has a slightly creamy texture but is smooth on the whole. Carbonation level is medium and it ends with a roasty bitterness.

The aroma had the donuts and heavy roast grains that gave a ton of dark chocolate off. The flavor shifted towards the coffee and everything roasty. Good but lacks some balance in the flavor profile.

Pours pitch black/spent motor oil black in color with a 2 finger thick brown/mocha colored head that was packed with tiny bubbles, dissipating very slowly and leaving only minimal lacing. The aroma is a mix of dark chocolate, brownies, roasted malts, oats, minerals, faint vanilla, coffee grinds, chocolate syrup and chocolate milk. No sign of the 12% ABV.

Here's what I really like about this brew: the can states it's an "Imperial Milk Stout Brewed With Coffee & Donuts". Any craft beer stout that makes a breakfast theme come to life which is tasty and enjoyable is great in my book. Factor in that this is an English Sweet / Milk Stout style brew clocking in at 12.4% ABV and it's full of flavor and I'm a happy camper. This is very chocolate driven with milk chocolate, dark chocolate, roasted malts, cocoa powder, burnt coffee grinds, metallic notes or minerals, whipped cream, sou sauce, dark fruit, caramel, roasted nuts, pumpernickel bread, charred wood, licorice, faint vanilla and earthy notes. No donuts that I could pick up, but the roasty flavors and chocolate sweetness work well together. The lactose makes it creamy and smooth with a mild bitterness, very mellow carbonation and mild piney notes that trail each sip that add a nice balance. A solid beer that I could drink any time.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a black, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin brown head that dissipates to patches with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and a whiff of nuts. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a little char, coffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, a hint of nuts and lactose. Medium bodied with light creaminess, good mouth feel. Fortunately the donut component is light, only a little lactose for sweetness, and excellent lightly charred tasting coffee; nice chocolate and vanilla. The flavors are all well handled and balanced. This is big enough and the malt robust enough, to lean towards stout territory, but the lactose keeps the flavor profile well within milk stout territory. ABV well covered. Quite nice with the char notes of the coffee indistinguishable from well toasted malt. I liked this a lot.

Abomination Brewing Midnight Snack - Coffee And Donuts, 12.4% ABV. Pours thick like oil and midnight black, with a half-finger brown head. This is the thickest beer I've ever had. Nose is vanilla, nuts, lactose, and slightly fruity. Taste is fruit, nuts, slightly sweet, roast malt, with a moderately bitter close. Excellent mouthfeel overall excellent. Pretty complex as it warms.

16oz can poured into a tulip. Pours black with with a small dark khaki head that fades leaving decent retention and okay lacing. The aromas are malt forward. Hints of coffee and chocolate. The flavors basically follow the nose for the most part. There's a nice amount of black coffee and dark chocolate. There's also a nice amount of smoke. The vanilla is subtle. It's bittersweet. I'm picking up some hop flavors, but there's no hop bitterness. The bitterness comes from the coffee and chocolate, but it's balanced. Once again, it's bittersweet, but probably on the sweeter side. Strong malt backbone. Alcohol is well hidden for being a big beer. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's fluffy, slightly creamy, smooth and dangerously drinkable.

This is a pretty solid milk stout. The coffee shines. It's sweet, but not over the top. It might not be "mind blowing", but it's still nice stuff. There's something unique about this one that I can't quite put my finger on it. I like it.

A simple and gorgeous wow factor on this one. Pours near pitch black with a dark brown mochaish head that leaves a few thin wisps of lace as it quickly settles. 4.5

Smell is peanut butter, vanilla bean, cocoa nib, and s’mores. 4.25

Taste follows peanut butter and from the description I was not expecting that, s’mores, vanilla, chocolate, and caramel drizzle. 4.25

Mouthfeel is a big medium, very gentle carbonation, a touch dry, and at 12.4% ABV very approachable, but loaded with flavor. 4.25

Overall just another excellent beer sent from @jzeilinger that I have never heard of, but expect people will soon see this on the radar. Really simple, but extremely tasty. 4.25

Very black, thin head, toasty aromas with some vanilla. Roasted malt, with coffee bitterness and more vanilla flavor and very creamy feel. Alcohol is well hidden.
Very tasty.

Imperial coffee and donut milk stout pours a nice black color into a pint, kicking up a finger of dark brown foam... Presents aromatics of coffee, chocolate and vanilla, and similar flavors on the sip... Donut flavors are folded in nicely and the sweetness is restrained, bitterness mild... A fairly mellow and drinkable beer, despite the abv... Smooth and full-bodied... 1/15/19 canning... Brewed and canned by Great South Bay...

16 ounce can into snifter; no can dating, but is a recent local release. Pours dense pitch black color with a small fairly dense dark brown bread with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread dough/crust; with light notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, coffee, donuts, vanilla, lactose, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread dough/crust; with light notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal, woody, grassy, roast, char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread dough/crust, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, coffee, donuts, lactose, vanilla, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a solid roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and no cloying sweetness after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 12.4%. Overall this is a fantastic flavored imperial milk/sweet stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, coffee, donuts, lactose, vanilla, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV, with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Very well rounded rich malts, lactose, coffee, vanilla, and donut flavor complexity; with mild fruity yeast and earthy hops against sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on example for the English style.

Pours a very deep dark brown with a modest half finger of beige head. The nose and flavor are dominated by the coffee notes. I am not getting anything that I would specifically identify as donut-like but there is definitely sweetness in the background.

Pours like oil. Great tasting milk stout with coffee flavor. Not too sure if I caught the doughnut flavor as I had just eaten a fistful of Girl Scout cookies.
