Sphere Eversion from Resident Culture Brewing. Received from @nc41 in BIF 12. Received 10/8/20. Reviewed 10/15/20.
Undated 16 oz can. Stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 45 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 54.5 degrees.
Appearance – 4.5.
First pour – Pale straw (SRM 2), hazy.
Body – Pale straw (SRM 2), murky and opaque. When held to direct light, same.
Head – Large (Maximum seven cm, aggressive center pour), white, medium density with rocks, fluffy, good retention, diminishing to a six to nineteen mm undulating crown with a thick complete cap and islands of foam remaining on the glass. Second pour produces a tight four cm head.
Lacing – Very nice - A wide three-dimensional skeleton-like band of tiny to medium bubbles with many coastal islands – somewhat resembling the Philippines. See also above.
Aroma – 4 – Smells citrusy with a touch of pine. No malt, no yeast. As it warms to 56 degrees, the citrus weakens, and a bit of malt comes through.
Flavor – 4.25 - Begins citrusy and slightly bitter. Refreshing. Malt is present in the background. No yeast. No alcohol (4.8 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends with a bit of biscuity malt but the citrusy bitterness remains until the end.
Palate – 4 – Thin, watery, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4 (Minus 0.25 point for undated can) Overall, a tasty session IPA.

A: Pours a milky murky pale golden orange in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate pale orange + apricot + peach + pale yellow + bright orange colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy creamy foamy bright white head that slowly reduces to a handful of medium sized patches of thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy citrus/grapefruit + citrus/lime + tropical/passionfruit + tropical/melon + pine + herbal hops over the top of light to moderate aromas of biscuit + pale + oat malts with a light amount of lactose sweetness.
T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of biscuit + pale + oat malts with a light amount of lactose sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of juicy itrus/grapefruit + citrus/lime + tropical/passionfruit + tropical/melon + pine + herbal hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which lingers slightly leaving light to moderate citrus + pine + herbal hop flavors.
M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Lightly crisp initially with a light amount of creamy soft/fluffiness mid-body and a light amount of dryness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a light refreshing slightly soft/fluffy mouthfeel (as I expected from a Session NEIPA). Enjoyable combination of hop flavors and aromas with just a touch of bitterness and not overly sweet from the addition of lactose.
