Relax (It’s Just a Hazy IPA)Relax (It’s Just a Hazy IPA)
Notes: Relax [it’s just a hazy IPA] embraces the new way to enjoy IPA - unfiltered, fresh and full of hop flavor and aromatics... without the bitterness to stand in the way of kicking back with a juicy beer. It features a combination of Citra, Centennial, Simcoe and Amarillo hops, imparting fruity, tropical and citrusy notes to complement the round, soft mouthfeel of a hazy IPA.

L:. Pours a hazy lemon juice yellow, with a small white head and no lacing.

S:. Notes of coconut, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, lots of sweet tropical fruit, very juicy and sweet.

T:. Notes of coconut orange, grapefruit pineapple, notes of wood and oak, not as sweet as the aroma would suggest.

F:. Carb is a bit higher than expected, and not quite as smooth.

O:. Aside from a few foibles, this is a very nice hazy IPA.

Baby Julius! Great beer but ok, it's a poor man's Julius... but delicious and available in SoFlo.

Excellent rendition of the NEIPA, with a delicious fruity nose, smooth mouth feel, and excellent balance.

Having experienced the best NEIPAs in the world, Offshoot did well here.

16oz can. Poured out a slightly hazy, golden orange color with a large, white head of foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of citrus, grapefruit and mango with some caramel notes. Sweet tropical fruit taste with a caramel/toffee backbone. Mild bitterness.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy honey color with a huge head; great stickage and clumpy lacing

Smell: Pineapple, mango and kumquat tones

Taste: Pineapple forward with mango building; kumquat bitterness, through the middle, with a piney finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A nice refreshing hazy for a summer day with a nice balancing bitterness

Pours a hazy gold with one finger of pearl colored head. Great lacing and better than average head retention

S: Some bready notes along with citrus notes

T: Follows the nose, plenty of green melon and peaches up front. Guy Some tangerine notes, plus dryness and more green melon as this warms. Finishes with plenty of melon, tangerine and grassyness

MF; Medium body; subdued carbonation, great balance

Drinks really easy, wish it had a better nose

Very hazy, pale, fluffy white head recedes to a decent cap; Citrusy aroma; Mild flavor, the citrus comes through; Smooth, mild carbonation, but not flat; No bad, a pleasant, tasty, mild IPA.

I often try new beers because Peggy picks one with a cute label. She would never have picked this one. Blue and yellow can, white writing can hardly be seen against the yellow, b;and, The little basking shark is only on one side - the label on the other side has no shark. This can shouts, "Don't pick me, don't pick me." But I did, didn't I?

Drinking Hazy IPA now. Out of a Frosty 19.2 IPA Glass of Superior Quality. Poured from a 16oz can.
Looks HAZY!! Copper Orange Amber
Smells Good and Piney
Tastes Awesome!! Super Fresh like being at the tap house. Very Piney up front and lots of citrus. Bitterness lasts on the roof of my mouth long after the sip /:swallow. This is a Great IPA.
Overall 4.5. Love it. It's my Go To Beer at Publix. Used to be Sweetwater but they have been slacking off on Hop Quality.

From can.
Darker amber haze. Fluffy head, good retention and lace.
Smells like orange, mango and honey.
Tastes like malty balance of citrus and tropical flavors. All weak.
Fairly full juicy mouthfeel.
Not bad, but doesn’t stand out.

I like this beer a lot. Bursting with citrus flavors the clean mouthfeel and nice finish make it easy to enjoy. Compares favorably to Other Half Brewing + Parish Brewing's Ghost Diamonds Highly recommended. Can dated 9/17/2019 and purchased from a good vendor. I

Thick yellow hazy body with two fingers of darker white foam, striking hues. Pithy lemon, orange zest, grassy hops. ripe pineapple, lime and slight grapefruit. Taste is much the same, not as pithy or zesty, touch of passion fruit, hops are bitter before turning floral and grassy in the finish. Really fresh and clean for a hazy. Feel is hoppy, hazy, medium bodied in almost every capacity possible.

Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop cooler 10-22-19 for $3.75. Canned on 9-17-19; consumed 1-6-20. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured a hazy orange with a very nice white head that has some good hang time.

Nose is a nice combo of orange and mango over a moderately sized malt base.

Taste follows the nose with a nice combination of mango and orange with the malt base. Finishes with a moderate hint of pulp bitterness; 4/10 on my scale.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and refreshing.

Overall a nice hazy IPA, glad i was able to try.

Pours a cloudy pineapple color, it has a citrus aroma and finishes with hoppy mango and grapefruit notes. I'd be curious what a fresher can would taste like.

16 ounce can - $4.49 at Hop City Craft Beer & Wine in Atlanta, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a sufficiently hazy, yellow-gold body with a initially foamy, frothy, whitish head.

Smell: Juicy, citrusy notes of lemon-lime, curt orange and grapefruit along with some additional tropical flourishes of mango, papaya as well as a bit of herbaceousness. Softening contemporary coating of rustic, raw oat and/or wheat in the backdrop.

Taste: Lightly bready barley cushioned with the addition of rustic raw grains. Gentle, abiding sweetness upfront. Tropical, citrusy, fruity. Thin sliver of mint leaf. Bitterness remains fairly low. A refreshing blend of flavors. Finishes smooth, even a little creamy.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation with a bit of zip behind it.

Overall: Quite likable, enjoyable and one I'd be happy to revisit.

16oz can into an IPA glass.

Look: An opaque, pale orange-gold. A fluffy white head reduces slowly into a foam ring leaving some sticky lacing on the side of the glass.
Smell: Juice, plain and simple. Citrus, tropical fruit, peach and melon.
Taste: Follows the nose exactly. Bursting with juicy citrus, orange, grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, peach, papaya. No bitterness whatsoever. This. Is. Juice.
Feel: Thinner than it looks like it would be, but still soft/smooth/round.
Overall: A delicious, if not terribly well balanced NEIPA... BUT If you want to drink delicious citrus/tropical fruit juice with notes of stone fruit and melon, then look no further.

1 pint can poured into a plastic cup at Central Market (Westheimer). Completely hazy pale orange gold with a bubbly head of short-lived white foam. Fruity aroma of peaches, melon and glazed donuts. Flavor continues with stone fruit, grapefruit, biscuity malt and just enough subtle bitterness. Slight dank emerges in the aftertaste. Soft and smooth mouthfeel. Very smooth, balanced and drinkable NEIPA.

Pours a hazy deep straw/pale gold (imagine that). The frothy 3 finger white head is moderately shortlived leaving little lace behind. Looks very similar to a glass of grapefruit juice. It smells like doughy grapefruit juice too with notes of peaches, cotton candy and hints of tropical fruit. Taste is fruity, simple and a pure delight: stonefruit, grapefruit, other citrus hints and bready. I have no idea of the IBU rating for this brew but it has low level bitterness. Medium bodied with low-moderate carbonation it is juicy, well rounded, lightly creamy and easy to drink. The 6.8% ABV it's completely invisible. Not even a ghost of it floating around. Nice! As a final note the name RELAX is an exercise in pessimism since the can art shows a guy sitting on a float about to be ingested by a shark. Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water! Who thinks this stuff up?

Being more than tired of the AIPA (twice as many out there as APAs), I am wondering why I have taken so long to start liking the NEIPAs. They are, after all, pleasantly fruity and usually not too bitter in the finish.

So it is with Relax. To the extent that this can be considered to have classics, Relax is nearly so.

My first from Offshoot, I ask: who are these guys that they can make a classic and I've never heard of them ?
Turns out, I have. They are an Offshoot of The Bruery... one of the most innovative crafters in the Belgian style.
Suddenly, it all makes sense... and reminds me that these two brewers are worth studying more.

This beer pours a hazy orange. I'm not getting much on the aroma just some tropical fruits. On the taste i'm getting some papaya, grapefruit, mango, & pineapple notes. This beer is sweeter than I expected it to be & it's very juicy. Cheers!

Small glass from draught @ Zeezicht, Breda. Pours an orance-juicy, cloudy yellow colour and a white-ish NEIPA head. Aroma's of juicy citrus and onion. Retronasal there doesn't seem to be much, just a little sour fruit. Flavour is moderate sweet, fruity. Medium bodied.Long finish with a hint of bitterness. Perhaps not so fresh?

A: hazy pale yellow & orange color. Quite matte. Fizzy 2 finger off-white rocky head

S: super tropical smelling. Zesty pineapple, mango, orange and lemon zest. Crackers, passionfruit and dragon fruit behind that. A touch of earthy dank hops as well in here. More pineapple at the end. So much juicy pineapple in the aroma

T: mango and strawberry upfront. Herbal sweet tea hops behind that with a hint of grapefruit. Sweet passionfruit and apricot behind that with a touch of grapefruit. Sweet lemon and orange juice as well. Doughy and biscuity backbone

M: fluffy medium mouthfeel with low carbonation

O: pretty solid IPA. Tropical and sweet

Milky golden pour with brownish hint - foamy off white head.
Aroma citrus, tangerine, pineapple, hint of dankness, slightly sweaty.
Bittersweet - citrus - orange, touch of orange peel, pineapple - perhaps just a touch of aspirin at finish.
Medium mouthfeel - at once creamy yet pushing to astringency and leaving a lingering bitter sense.
Very drinkable - really good but not clearly distinguishable from a lot of hazy IPAs. Thankfully i got a Palate Wrecker to go to for a bit a change.....

This is an excellent hazy - was highly touted by one of the young salesmen at Stateline in Elkton. However, too pricey - at almost $4 for a 16-0z can. Will stay with Reckless Brewings' Illustrious Buddha, similar in taste/feel but more reasonable.
