Style: American Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.10%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Can I get a What What? What? Yep, you heard right. A collection of C hops and a dash of Equinox creates waves of hop flavor and perhaps a bit of smackdown over a lightly sweet malt backbone. Sniff. Sip. Sniff. Sip. Sniff. Sip. Dang, all gone. What I say?

Bottled on my birfday 10/18/17.Pours into an oversized wine glass a rich orange infused golden with a sticky half finger head atop.Over ripe tropical fruits and pine stand out in the nose over top of sugary sweetness and caramel, smells like a beast.Tangerine and mango hop fruitiness up front on the palate with caramel/biscuit chewy malts underneath,as I drink more I get more alcohol wich lends more sweetness. It's a big sweet DIPA wich there are alot of out there.

Bottled date of 04/03/17

Appearance - Pours crystal clear and bright golden in color with an off-white, finger width head. Good retention, resulting in a thin, broken layer of suds and a fair ring around the edge of the glass. Decent lacing, with a few broken lines a small spotting decorating the glass.

Smell - Cattiness, pine, hints of citrus and some herbal character.

Taste - The flavor is dank and earthy before citrus comes in to add some balance. Pineapple zing hits mid-taste. Faint bready malt backbone. Dankness returns in the finish, leaving a slightly citrusy, but mostly resinous finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Slick texture with a mostly dry finish.

Overall - As with the other Revision brews thus far, this is a clean, well-made brew. The dank character is just a bit much for my tastes. I certainly couldn't fault anyone for loving it, but I'd prefer a few of the other offerings from this young brewery.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a two finger white head with great retention, actually kept growing for a while, and thick lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus, piney and dank hops, orange citrus; nice. Flavor is caramel malt, piney and citrus hops, pine needles, orange and tangerine, hints of mixed tropical fruit. Finishes with moderately resinous piney and citrus hops. A pleasant, lightly creamy body is enhanced by the whipped cream texture of the persistant head, really good. A classic caramel malt West Coast style IPA that hits all the right notes for me. Nice herbal hops with a good variety of flavors. Looks, feel and taste are all fine. I'm impressed by this brewery's IPAs. I hope we see more of them out here. Every time I think "we really don't need more IPAs around here", I find out that there's never too much.

Bitter like my baby mama’s grandma because I still haven’t proposed, and citrusy like a butterfly free from a year of captivity, this son of a gun speaks to you like a dinosaur strutting his stuff on the scene. Flavors are boom boom in your face like a Kardashian pool party. And aside from a slight bit of sharpness in the after taste, this guy delivers the goods.

Very nice, clear and golden orange beer. It has a sticky white head that stays around and leaves a curtain of lacing behind. A lot of citrus, mainly grapefruit but some orange/tangerine, and pine in the nose with a malty sweetness. Medium mouthfeel. Sweet and bitter with a bit of overripe orange in the taste. Mostly grapefruit pith and pine though. Has a kind of flowery aftertaste. Pretty solid brew.

A: Pours a clear medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate golden yellow + amber colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall sudsy foamy white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of overripe tropical/mango, tropical/papaya, tropical/pineapple, citrus/tangerine, and pine/resin hops over the top of moderate aromas of caramel + biscuit + toasted malts with moderate amounts of caramel sweetness.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of caramel + biscuit + toasted malts with moderate amounts of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of overripe tropical/mango, tropical/papaya, tropical/pineapple, citrus/tangerine, and pine/resin hops which impart a just shy of moderate amount of bitterness which lingers and a hint of booziness.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light to moderate amounts of alcohol warming in the finish.

O: Drinks fairly easily considering the strength - this is a big sweet boozy DIPA. Alcohol is not overly well hidden. Enjoyable .

Solid every day DIPA. This brewery is killing it right now. Doing the west coast style very well. Good hop forward aroma and taste. Clean finish. Nice year around beer.

All around solid double IPA. Clear gold color, decent head dissipated relatively quickly, leaving good lacing. Piney, citrus, bitter smell. Fairly bitter initial taste balances out quickly. Somewhat viscous body once it warmed a little. Overall not bad. I wouldn't seek it out, but it was enjoyable. Whole Foods, Berkeley, CA. May 2017.

Revision burst upon the scene dropping a better hop game than Knee Deep showed outside of a few examples of fresh Simtra and Breaking Bud batches. This drops a light orange color and 1/2" white head with a connotation of yesteryear west coast ipa before people started getting NE murked and shit. Mix of old school C hops with some help from new buddies Citra and Equinox I believe. Dry hopping is there and good. Sounds like where the bulk of the proprietary hops went.

Taste is what you would expect, a little bit of caramel and a lot of hops. Bitterness in the slightly tempered old school vein, this one isn't quite 100 ibu territory, but it is up there. Mostly sweet citrus (tangerine and orange) impact that the hops provide. A little bit of grapefruit from the older C hop stuff (Cascade, Centennial).

A good beer, around $3-4 per bottle. Much like Public Enemy and Anthrax together, this Revision brings the noise.

My first beer from this newer brewery from Nevada. Picked up a 12 oz bottle at Chip's in North Carolina. Poured into a pint glass, a clear gold color with medium size frothy white head. Head retention is good and here are broken bands of lacing with spotty patches throughout. Aroma and taste start with strong piney and floral hops. The taste then includes citrus hops too. Good flavor, nice balance between slightly sweet malt and a variety of hop flavors. Mouthfeel is nicely bitter, some balance with an overall soft presence and not much alcohol presence despite the 9.1 .abv. This is a very good DIPA.
