Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.25%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Dig the dank. Savor the stank. Leafy Greens presents an increase by orders of magnitude in dankness. The aroma of certain hops, particularly CTZ, has long been described as similar to marijuana. Scientific examination has indeed proven that Humulus Lupulus and Cannabis Sativa are relatives, both members of the Cannabinaceae family. Ponder these branches of the family tree while enjoying this mellow IPA with friends, music, solid visuals and readily available munchies.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours crystal clear deep golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves some spotty lacing.

S: Ripe citrus, slight fruity notes, resinous, peppery spice, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Resinous, peppery spice, herbal, strong citrus undertones, orange and grapefruit, faint fruity notes, peach and apricot, a little lightly toasted biscuity malt, and caramels sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Nice to get back to a more classic IPA after drinking so much of their hazy stuff. Well made beer, though I was hoping Jeremy would pull out more of the dank side like he does in the Revenge series.

Pours a brassy color replete with professional USDA grade clarity, and a soft 1/3" white head. Aroma tis not as danky as the label talks up. They talk CTZ (Zeus in my backyard) up like it is an aroma hop, but I dunno, I think Zeus works well as a Simcoe bittering hop substitute. Its like a tweener, there are some aromatic properties, but the commercial tug job on this just talks it up a little much.

The malt backcground is a sturdier base than most, they went for a heavier degree of toasting, possibly even into caramel crystal malt territory in a small way. Its a heavier west coast ipa malt base than I'm used to with these guys, or it could be how CTZ breaks 'em off in conjunction, just makes the barley feel heavier. I dunno, New Zealand proprietary hops always felt more like the devil's electric lettuce to me than the Zeus hop, even though I like it, it isn't what they say it is.

Its a solid west coast ipa that clocks in around 60 ibu I would guess.

Crystal clear. I can’t believe how clean it looks honestly. Tasty beer. Def reminds me of the chronic series from Lagunitas. Has that “herb” flavor too it. Not on the sweet side at all but not too bitter either. Pretty well balanced. Well done. Worth a try.

Pours a clear orangish copper color with whitish head and minimal lacing. Nose has some dank hops,a bit of malt and a bit of citrus. Taste pretty much follows ,more balanced than I was expecting. Smooth and easy to drink.

No canned on date, but recently released

Appearance - Pours crystal clear and brilliant orange in color with an eggshell white, near finger width head. Fair retention before dying down to a thin, broken layer of surface suds and a thick ring around the edge of the glass. No lacing.

Smell - Dank, herbal aroma is prominent, but also a bit of tangerine and white grapefruit.

Taste - Follows the nose. Some herb and earthy dank upfront but a quick shot of tangerine brings a lot of bright and sweet
character to the brew. Generic bready malt flavor sits well beneath. Finish lingers with some earthen dank, sweet tangerine and a hint of lemon pith. Fairly clean aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with fair carbonation. Stupid smooth and slick drinker with a crisp, mostly dry finish.

Overall - Hmm, there's some dank here, but not nearly as much as expected, or at least it's balanced by the bright citrus notes... which is a good thing if you're me. Signature crisp, easy drinker that Revision does with their clean IPA's. I would definitely drink this again.

Bottle from Brewers Haven. Medium amber body, initial thick head fades to creamy skin. I'm getting some caramel malts in the aroma, butterscotch, gingerbread. Taste brings in some hoppiness, lightly dank, not nearly what I expected after reading the description. Still a lot of malts there, some floral, jujube bitterness. Its good, but I thought it would be better.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a one finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel and biscuit malt, citrus, grassy and mildly dank hops, light green onion, dry grass, mild orange and grapefruit. Flavor is pale and light caramel malt, citrus, piney and lightly dank hops, lemon juice and rind, grapefruit, light papaya, pine needles; finishes with quite resinous pine, lemon citrus and a little dankness. Very nice moderately creamy body with good mouth feel. The lable has big leafy hop buds and is high on the dankness. The first is very accurate, but I'm not really getting big dankness in this one, the flavors are mostly pine and lemon citrus. Not that that is a bad thing, because this is loaded with great, well selected herbal hop flavors. Not going to get a contact high from the dank hops though. A firm malt body with excellent feel supports beefy hops that start a little citrusy and piney, then intensify with an odd little burst of estery tropical and lemon fruit in the middle before finishing with lingering, very fresh flavored piney and citrus hops with a little mint. I can taste small bursts of lemon on my tongue several minutes after sipping this. A great hoppy IPA that rivals the recent local fresh hops in flavor. I'm grooving on this one even if it doesn't smell a lot like my stash.
