A: Pours an extremely murky pale golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly along the edges of the glass and moderate amounts of bright yellow + straw yellow colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy white head that slowly reduces to a medium sized patch of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of slightly mottled very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy citrus/orange + tropical/pineapple + citrus/grapefruit zest + citrus/lemon + tropical/passionfruit + stone fruit/nectarine (but fairly green) hops over the top of light aromas of biscuit + oat + wheat malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of biscuit + oat + wheat malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of juicy (though slightly green) citrus/orange + tropical/pineapple + citrus/grapefruit zest + citrus/lemon + tropical/passionfruit + stone fruit/nectarine hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which does not linger for too long leaving lingering citrus hops flavors.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp upfront with a moderately soft/fluffy mid-body and a light amount of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a nice soft fluffy mouthfeel. Veyr enjoyable with a really pleasant hop profile, I could easily have a couple of these.

It’s pretty wild if I may say. Imagine living in California, yet your senses are transported to New England whatever. Like, here Raul is, in the house of Tupac and Snoop Dawg, but when he drinks this son of a gun, he’s thinking Tom Brady. How wild is that?! So yeah, like a Bill Belichek long bomb, Raul says hut hut hike! And he’s going for two.

Can stamped 06/28/18

Opaque yellow haze with a thin white head. Aromas of pineapple juice, orange, grass, and a little passion fruit. Zesty grapefruit and lemon, pineapple, nectarine, and green herbs. Smooth medium-light body, a touch watery. Pretty tasty.

Can from Brewers Haven. Milky yellow pour, small, tight creamy head. Not as good as the Glitter Moon. Light citrus aroma, grapefruit. Taste too is citrus, kind of juicy. Mild bitterness and a touch of tart.subdued.

Thanks, Chad!

Got this as part of a nice haul from Chad with Darin as the middleman. Revision always kills it with its hoppy stuff and even the hazy stuff too. Didn’t know anything about it going in really. The description on the can read, “This fruit-forward single IPA features deep flavors of citrus from the hops yet is easy drinking. Don’t wait until later, enjoy right meow!”

Poured a hazy pale-to-straw color with 1-to-2 fingers of off-white frothy-to-fizzy head. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Outstanding spotty lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled a nice mix of citrus fruits and hops. Specifically got peach, nectarine, pineapple, passion fruit, tangerine, orange and orange blossom for the fruits. For hops I got Amarillo and Citra for sure. Also either Mosaic or Simcoe. From the can came mainly juicy nectarine, tangerine and some papaya. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste followed the nose, but worsened as it went down. Took a pretty big first chug. Got Amarillo, Simcoe and Citra for the hops. Also nectarine, peach, tangerine pulp, bitter orange rind, pineapple, grapefruit, passion fruit and papaya. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Bitter finish. Lots of hop burn. (Feel - 3.25)

The smell was great and the taste started out almost as good, but gradually dropped off. Very good overall. (Overall - 3.75)

Northeast-style IPA? Guess ‘New England’ and ‘Northeast’ are interchangeable terms now? Yes, I lied. I said I would review Knee Deep Lupulin River next, however this can (canned 25 Jan 18) is about as fresh as a beer ever gets to Aus from the states, so it’s going to be a tasty beverage - Lupulin River can wait [1 hr, lol]. Sparkle Muffin is the first beer I’ve had from Revision Brewing, and most likely my first beer from Nevada, least I’ll know soon enough when BeerAdvocate bumps my number of US states from 15 to 16 [I can hardly even contain my excitement]. So without further ado let’s crack open a can of Sparkle Muffin, I said MEOW! Do iiiit.

Poured from a 473ml (US Pint) sized can into a nonic pint.

A: Pretty damn cloudy, total NEIPA look here with a pale pineapple yellow body and a nice billowy white head that leaves lace-work on the inside of the glass. Yep, this ‘ere is good NEIPA territory, a place you could settle down and call your own with little hops running around, nice. 9/10.

S: Tinned pineapple chunks, just like a certain renowned tinned fruit company in Australia used to do [or still does - haven’t had tinned pineapple chunks in a while]. Aroma is full of pineapple goodness, along with some of that fabled (for an Aussie drinking a US IPA) green resin hop character, hints of OJ, and a careless whisper [it’s a George Michael tribute mix playing in Castle Doc right now: “Guilty feet have got no rhythm...”] of biscuit malt supporting the hops. Top stuff this. 9/10.

T: I’ve got 2 words: Deschutes and Victory, as in: tastes like Deschutes Fresh Squeezed and Victory DirtWolf mixed together. Sparkle Muffin brings that tinned pineapple chunks bravado of DirtWolf, adds a touch of piney/citrus hops like Fresh Squeezed, and throws in fresh squeezed (not the beer, the real thing) OJ and a spicy/peppery back note. It has a nice green hop resin tinge to it as well, like a fresh IPA normally has, but it’s survived 2 months in the can without hop fade, which is quite admirable. Mid to light bitterness, as per the style. This is ace. 10/10.

M: The mouthfeel is superlative as well: Mid to heavy bodied with a creamy/dense carbonation - beats the Deschutes and Victory here IMO. 10/10.

D: Either it doesn’t take much to impress me or US beer reviewers are hard to please. Regardless I’m suitably impressed from the off by Revision, this is a stellar NEIPA, which BTW is more of an East meets West coast brew but what’s in a name? A beer by any other name would taste as sweet & bitter. 9/10.

Food match: Ooo, something with Vietnamese mint in it - Bun Cha salad FTW.
