Presentation: .5 liter swing top brown bottle with a “best before end” freshness date on the back label.

Appearance: Cloudy golden beige hue, thin lacing yet stays for the duration.

Smell: Ripe banana soaking in lemons and clove with a yellow cake maltiness in the back.

Taste & Mouth Feel: Very smooth with a creamy back in the mouth feel. Huge fermented wheat flavor, it screams fresh malt all over. Rounded spicy clove is the only savior to help balance the mild tartness, banana fruitiness and dough maltiness.

Drinkability & Notes: Wow! One of the most impressive German hefe-weizens I have had this year. A simple smoke turkey sausage on a wheat hoagie roll with some slaw was a perfect pairing.

Appearance - I poured this one nice and easy as the big white head was coming on strong. The body is a nice, light yellowish-orange in color and hazy.

Smell – The big bananas sprang from my Weizen glass. There are some good orange and cherry notes as well. Of course, the natural yeasty backbone holds things together nicely.

Taste – The yeast from the nose carries over to the taste, which often is not the case with Hefe Weizen pretenders. The big banana and clove is accompanied, to a lesser extent, by some nice tangerine.

Mouthfeel – This is big for a Hefe, I’d say medium-bodied, with some light carbonation and a tangy mouthfeel from the yeast.

Drinkability – I would have liked to have seen a bit more carbonation here, but overall this is a solid entry in the Hefe Weizen category that is cluttered with half-hearted efforts from other breweries.

Appearance: cloudy , pale honey/yellow with a bit of a light orange tinge. The head is big 3 inch , lasting white froth.

Smell: Nice and rich , wheaty nose on this one. Some citrus , lemon zest , banana, some coriander spice , and a hint of yeast.

Taste: Light but full of good flavor. Lightly citric , twangy / tart, full, and fresh wheat flavor , some clove and coriander , some very light hoppiness , and a bit of yeasty dryness in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Very light and refreshing , mildly creamy , with a slightly dry finish.

Drinkability: A very tasty and drinkable Hefe Weizen. Very nice balance of flavors and refreshing qualities.

A great German hefe. Pours cloudy gold with a foamy white head. Lots of banana and bubblegum/sugar in the aroma with some wheat and yeast. Taste is very smooth. More wheat than I expected, given the nose. Good balance of banana and sweetness towards the back. One of the best in this category.

Large swing top bottle...nicely hazy straw yellow appearance, very white head rises to well over 1/2 an inch to start, maintains itself for less than a minute. Laces are thick but very scant in coverage. Good aroma, a sense of pineapple and cotton candy. Mouthfeel is a little too light, carbonation less than average. Flavor is right for style, sweetened banana, a little bit of juicy brightness (again, pineapple) and a full rounded finish that continues the estery impression. A little cinnamon and lemon in the aftertaste. Well-done rendition in most important aspects of a Hefe.

Smoggy straw with a modest white head that recedes to a collar after a minute or so.
Clove dominated aroma, backed with lemon juice and varying impressions of other citrus fruits.
Begins with a fleeting breadiness that suggests something along the lines of lemon poppyseed muffins. The lemon hue lingers as this turns notably sour. Blood orange pulp and lime juice. Clove is next, with a belgian wit-esque coriander note (coupling with the orangey flavor to reach this impression). Rides out with lingering tartness and a gradual fade-to-black on everything.
Very light bodied, with rapid, tiny carbonation. The utter thinness of this brew-weak even by wheat beer standards-precludes this from any sort of memorability or cohesion in its flavors. A shame really, because this has some likeable, different tastes for a weizen and, of course, a solid drinkability.

Swing top pint from Liquid Solutions. Nice peachy colour and delightful wheat and yeast fuity aroma, an orange julep fragrance. Somewhat creamy weizen, great with supper. Some spices in taste, carbonation is apparent. Very enjoyable though not the best I have had of this style.

Poured from a 500mL bottle into my Ayinger weizen glass.

Best before code: 881085 - (huh?).

Liquid is a cloudy light-gold/sunglow with a thin white head which recedes into a gently lacing ring surrounding an archipelago of carbonation.

Aromatics are very characteristic of the style, with prominent banana esters with hints of (in diminishing order) vanilla and honey, bubble-gum, clove and cardamom. A light wheat aroma is present as well but very subdued.

Palate is wheat, malt, a hint of citrus, more banana, wheat again, yeast, light spice. The flavors are well balanced and intermingle. Slightly sweet, then tart, then spicy, with a somewhat dry bready finish. Few if any hops. Excellent and perfectly refreshing.

Fairly creamy, though not as effervescent as hoped. Carbonation is OK, but could be higher.

A little more balance or intensity would improve things ever so slightly, but this remains an outstanding summer beer.

Appearance: clody golden body and creamy bright white cap. Good retention. Excellent lacing.
Small: Bready sweet with notes of clove and bananas.
Taste: Taste follows aroma, as usual. Limited phenolics of bubblegum and clove. Sweetish. Lots of wheat malt. Mild balancing bitterness. Slightly grassy and floral hops. Finishes with a very slight hint of sulphur and grassy hops amidst candyish sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and quite crisp with a standard elevated carbonation for weizen.
Drinkability: Quite nice. More flavor than quite a few. Very nicely done.

Best before end date: 881075??

Pours a hazy honey color with a 3 fingers deep eggshell head. Stays hazy, minimal lacing & head retention

S: Big-time banana & cloves

T: Big time banana & cloves up front; peppery spice follows with hint of lemon & bandaids. Juicy fruit quenching wetness follows up. Finishses quenching, fruitty with banana dominating the taste profiles.

MF: Light/medium bodied with low carbonation & juicyness

Drinks pretty easy, very refreshing, hefe purists will love this. I couldn't do more than 2 at a sitting, the strong flavors are not to my wheelhouse

A - My first swingtop bottle I've ever opened. The cork-type "pop" got me excited to try this. It poured an extremely cloudy peach similar to some wits I've had. It almost glows in my glass. The head erupted up and died down later. I didn't get too much lacing.
S - I got the standard Bavarian Hefe banana and clove smell which I love.
T - The taste was a tad different. It had the banana/clove up front, but had a sour/tart aftertaste which was more noticeable as I drank it (lemon-like sour). It adds complexity by dulling the yeast flavor at the end.
M - has a solid body. Creamy yet tart with the wheat. Good stuff.
D - The sourness was a very nice addition in the beginning, but towards the end it overpowered a little. Overall it was a solid Hefe.

Pours a bright cloudy golden brown color with a small pure white head that dissipated into a nice sudsy cap. The smell is of sharp wheat malt, apples, some banana and clove. The taste is a tad light but rather smooth. It has flavors of banana cream pie and is slightly grainy. I thought it would have a crisp wheat edge but it doesn't. The feel is moderate with soft carbonation. The finish is quite smooth. Not the best tasting hefe, almost subdued in many ways. However the feel is great and I find this to be an extremely drinkable brew as it doesn't have that dry crisp wheat malt bite.

A: Poured a cloudy, lemony-orange with a huge 3 finger creamy, eggshell white head that went the distance retention wise. When held up to the light you can see the strong vibrant nature of the drink.

S: a huge bundle of fresh banana aroma with light orange and spicy clove hints.

T: spicy cloves, fresh bananas for flavor as well fresh wheat grains. Lemon merrang, bright citrus, and fresh pears were also detected. Overall the flavor was sharp and very pronounced thanks in part to the aggressive carbonation that highlighted the yeasty nature of this beer.

M: lively providing a tingling sensation around the edges of the tongue while bringing out the yeasty and citric tones.

D: Drinkability was great making for a refreshing summer time quencher. A good example and worthy of seeking our per style.

Into a Schwelmer Weizen glass, the beer pours a cloudy yellow-orange, opaque with the yeast swirled in. Several fingers of foam, looks good, pretty standard.

Smell is wheaty, slight banana/clove, but very subdued. There's a musty grain note that may be attributed to it's age.

Taste is slightly sweet at first, honeyish and doughy. Moderate mouthfeel carries notes of yeast and slight banana ester. A little phenolic maybe, but nothing out of place. Clove in the aftertaste, much stronger in a fresh sample. Seems like the carbonation thins out after awhile. Overall it's balanced and very drinkable.

Try to get it fresh if you can, it makes a difference.

Presented in a 500ml bottle adorned with a swing-top lid. Poured into my beloved Paulaner weissbier glass.
Appearance: cloudy apricot color. Copious carbonation charging headlong to the bottom of a fluffy white head. Head display admirable durability and left sticky patches of lace behind.
Smell: Redolent of bananas and bready malt. Nice dusty, yeasty aroma along with lesser degrees of clove and apple.
Taste: immediate banana bread flavor. Banana taste pretty strong but the bready malt holds up well. Good spicy finish.
Feel: fuller than a lot of other weizens. Real dry finish and lively on the tongue.
Drinkability: man, I could drink a boatload of this! Nicely quaffable and refreshing. A quality hefeweizen worth grabbing up if you spot it at the local liquor mart.

Appearance- Body is a fairly opaque apricot color. The head is huge, white, has decent retention. No lacing. Kots of sediment left in the bottom. Tried to get as much as I could into the glass, but that stuff is caked in hard.

Smell- Fairy wheaty, with strong banana in it. Fairly soft and mellow. Very inviting.

Taste- Good balance. Fairly wheaty, but it's not overwhelming. Good levels of a mild lemon and banana in the middle. No hops of course. Not as refreshing as other hefes, but delicious. Nice, mile lemon in the after-taste to.

Mouthfeel- Medium body (for style). Carbonation level may be a bit low, but it works with this beer.

Drinkability- Very drinkable. I like this stuff. Not the best wheat available, but easily in the top 10% overall, and top 5% for bottles.

I went out to buy wine for my wife at a local beer and wine store when a bottle of Schwelmer Weizen caught my eyes. I confess that I only bought it because of the swing top (I wanted the bottle since I brew my own beer) and that I found a very nice beer to add to my favorite list.

A: very nice looking, naturally cloudy, beer with a whitish/opaque yellow color that looked like a lava lamp when looking through the glass against the light. Huge creamy head that stayed throughout the pleasant experience.

S: Strong sweet (fruity/clovy) scent with some citric aspects.

T: Fresh sweet malt with light flowery hop that made it taste just right. Smooth and pleasent aftertaste.

M: Medium bodied. deliciously creamy and a bit tart. Not much carbonation.

D: refreshing that went down like it was nothing. I was regretful that I didn't purchase at least another bottle to keep it going.

1/2 ltr flip top picked up today at Tres Bonne Cuisine for $3.25. poured into my small weizen glass.

Nice pillowy head dies quickly leaving no lacing.. slightly hazy straw gold brew.

Aroma is more clove than banana.. fairly spicy with a good amount of wheat overtones.

Big complex hefe flavors.. plenty of wheat malt and middle of the road sweetness helps tie the bananas and cloves together very well... some lemony zing throughout. sorta creamy body with soft carbonation.. very drinkable and every bit as good as some of the bigger and more well known German hefes.

This is my first Schwelmer brew and won't be my last now that I know there is a local store that carries at least a few of them... Thanks to Barbara at Tres Bonne Cuisine.

Had this bier from a 1/2 litre flip-top bottle.

A: A nice golden yellow, not as hazy looking as other weizens, more of a pilsner look only with more carbonation. Nice run-on sentence.
S: Bananas, bananas, and more bananas. A very inviting odor.
T: A wonderful taste, follows the smell in that is is fruity, refreshing, with no after taste. Mild carbonation compliments the fruity flavor and makes this a great taste. Not as smooth and milky as hacker-pschorr, but close.
M: No problems here.
D: Overall, this is a wonderful weizen bier. I could have this all day long.

Do yourself a favor and get a few, you will not be disappointed. Prosit!

Serving type: 1 pt .9fl oz

Appearance: Pours a cloudy golden colour w/ a light head that faded a bit quickly

Smell: Bubblegum...banana? Not super sweet, some malts/hops today

Taste: Bubblegum at the beginning and ends what I can best describe as banana's. You get a slight tartness flavour when you begin to taste the banana's but in no way is it overpowering. Adds a nice finish to the drink

Mouthfeel: Pretty light body that lingers slighty on the sides of your mouth. The tartness stays present toward the back of your throat

Drinkability: This is my first time trying a Hefeweizen and I am pretty happy w/ the outcome. It is not overly sweet(which I do not like) nor is it overly tart(which I also do not like) the end it makes a nice happy medium which many people might rather enjoy.

My only complaint is this...I wish the head was present a little longer. It might increase what you smell or help w/ the smoothness. Overall a good drink though

Popping open that bottle top, it sounded as if I'd just released something sinister. A violent force. Gasps & shrieks echo & then die. All is still once again.

The head rises without restraint. Three, maybe four ounces of beer is all it takes to get the weizen glass to start mushrooming. Foggy & dreary to the core, but without any noticeable sediment left in the glass. The Jenga tower collapses so quickly though, that there's hardly any lacing leftover. BB: 881086 err... vwhaat?

The intensity of the cloves scald my brain. There's some green apple in there if you really want to play Where's Waldo. Besides that, it's just plain big up front with artificial Runts candy. The stuff that always gets piled on during Halloween these day. It's more prevalent then even candy corn. The random grape candy in the package is decent, but c'mon. What's all this plastic fruit? Where are all the Snickers? At least give me some Bottle Caps lady.

What you don't trick-or-treat anymore? Where's your spirit? Shame on you.

Taste is thankfully a lot less medicinal. A sweet tropical fruit punch greets you immediately. More then just the typical banana. Pineapple & even kiwi if you dare to imagine for a little bit. White grapefruit to give it some bite, & just enough clove to keep it all from washing away too quickly.

Mouthfeel is inline with the style, with a slighty less carbonation then I'm use to. Not sticky or overly dry on the finish, it washes right down.

Satisfying. :)

A: Love the Schwelmer swing top. Looks cool. Very pale but with a gorgeous head, but it dissipates quickly.

S: Has that delightful smell.

T: Tremendous wheat flavor. There are slightly better Hefe's, but this is very high quality.

M: A little bit tart. But still a high quality Hefe.

D: Just goes down so nicely. Has a tremendous aftertaste.

One of the best Hefe Weizens. Schwelmer beers, of all kinds, are always fresh tasting. Big fan.

Cloudy and dark gold in color with trickles of of white and green light coming through that made me think it resembled a wit bier. No head. Banana and clove nose. Fresh and clean attack. Mild flavor of banana and clove. Surprisingly simple and quite good. Not overdone. Traditional wheat beer qualities in and understated fashion. Different due to its straightforward simplicity. Very enjoyable and I must admit I wasn't expecting this as recently I seem to be finding disappointment with imports.

I've been trying to determine what the spicy aftertaste is. My girlfriend thinks it's nutmeg.

Anyway, good color, about right for a weizen. Good taste, not too wheaty, not heavy, nice and light. You can taste the hint of spices. Very drinkable, since it's light and easy on the stomach.

This has to be one of the better hefeweizens out there. Bonus points for the grolsh style bottle, perfect for homebrewers like myself who are concerned with caps.
